LIONTRON presents the most powerful underseat battery to date with over 300 Ah as an arctic version / sustainable battery design with replaceable components and more self-sufficiency down to -30°C. At this year's Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, LIONTRON is bringing its new lithium underseat battery with 300 ampere hours as an arctic version with it. From August 26 to September 4, 2022, the manufacturer of sustainable lithium batteries will be showing its new flagship at booth E11 in hall 13 and booth 11-02 on the outdoor area, which can also be used down to -30°C without restrictions. From -1°C, the heating elements inside the LIONTRON LX Arctic 300 are activated and heat it up to +5°C - the prerequisite is that it is connected to a power source. This can be a charger or a solar controller, for example. This ensures that the battery is only heated when it is in use and does not discharge itself through its own heating elements if it is not used for a long time. With the slight warming up of the battery, full absorption of the charging capacity is guaranteed even at sub-zero temperatures. Normal lithium iron phosphate batteries switch off the charging current from 0°C.
LIONTRON underseat battery
The lithium batteries from LIONTRON convince in the market with their maintenance-friendly design. All components, such as the cells, the electronic battery management system (BMS) and the Bluetooth module, are screwed together - not glued or welded. This also applies to the heating element of the Arctic version. All current LX series LIONTRON batteries can be upgraded to the Arctic version. Installing the two heating elements requires reprogramming or replacing the BMS.
Thanks to the modular design, which makes LIONTRON batteries a safe and long-lasting investment, the replacement of components is possible without special tools. The batteries not only offer the technical advantages of LiFePO4 technology over AGM and GEL batteries. LIONTRON also guarantees a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee and the option of purchasing components, opening the battery and replacing defective parts 10 years later. The battery can be repaired inexpensively by the manufacturer's workshop or even by the customer himself for 15 years. The constructive basis here is the so-called "3 x 5 minutes" concept. Firstly, this makes it possible to open each battery within five minutes and test it for errors. Secondly, every component can be replaced in another five minutes. Third: After another five minutes, the battery is assembled and ready for use again.
Installation under the passenger seat in the motorhome
Due to the small, specially tailored dimensions of 349 x 349 x 190 millimeters (L x W x H), the new battery under the seat is particularly suitable for use in motorhomes for installation in the driver and/or passenger console. Installation in the seat bases is straightforward and the battery doesn't get in the way of the swivel seats above. A battery capacity of 300 Ah can be generated under one seat - with a second LIONTRON under the other seat in parallel connection up to 600 Ah. Altogether that's 7200 watt hours!

In practice, a 300 Ah LiFePO4 battery provides the same charging capacity as a lead battery with 600 Ah. In contrast to a lead battery, which should only be discharged to 50 percent, a lithium iron phosphate battery can be deeply discharged. The LIONTRON 12.8V 300Ah LX Arctic has a capacity of around 315 Ah. While a few percent remain in reserve in the lithium battery to ensure smooth operation and to protect the lithium cells, a net discharge of around 300 Ah is possible. 200 A discharge current can be permanently drawn from the battery, which corresponds to approx. 2,5 KW output. In addition, the LiFePO4 battery with 300 Ah weighs only 34,7 kilograms - a fraction of a comparable lead battery. With over 3.000 charging cycles, the new battery is also extremely durable.
If the old AGM or GEL battery is to be replaced by a LIONTRON, the existing charging and discharging infrastructure does not have to be replaced. However, if users want to benefit from the battery's rapid charging capability (150 A), it is advisable to install a powerful battery charger with up to 150 amps. This allows the battery to be fully charged in 2 hours. The integrated BMS with adaptive cell balancing regulates the charging and discharging currents fully automatically and protects against short circuits, overcharging, excessive discharge and excessively high/low temperatures. The appropriate LIONTRON Multi App (iOS and Android) automatically displays the various parameters of up to four selected LiFePO4 batteries in total or individually: including the state of charge, the current capacity, current and voltage of the batteries connected in parallel. The LIONTRON 12.8V 300 Ah LX Arctic Lithium LiFePO4 underseat battery with Bluetooth is now available from specialist retailers for 3.640 euros.
