Then the EMS no longer works with the normal saved settings because no battery information are available, but that's not really bad. Electronic accessories such as the air conditioning system may not work directly at first because the EMS has to "recognize" the new battery first, but that's about it.
The "getting to know" the renewed battery without a BEM code and EMS is done by means of so-called Trigger events such as starting the engine, cold starts or the battery voltage. With a little time, the EMS learns from the processes that put a strain on the battery. In this way, more and more information comes together that guarantees the full functionality of all systems again. So statements are that installing a battery without a BEM code can damage the on-board electronics, falsch. Buying and programming an original battery instead of a battery from the accessories only has the advantage that the complete functionality of all systems is immediately guaranteed. This functionality is also achieved by the battery without a BEM code from the accessories after a short "Getting to know you phase".
