Frankfurt, October 2021 - Stellantis is increasingly promoting sustainable, accessible and distinctive mobility for the idea of a 'green' future for our cities, in which technological innovation goes hand in hand with respect for the environment. For the closely linked teams from Mopar and Fiat, this mission was the starting point for the development of the "500 Iride", the new electric scooter for locally emission-free urban micro-mobility. The “500 Iride”, designed by Fiat Centro Stile in collaboration with Compagnia Ducale, with its unmistakable Italian design inspired by the New 500, the first all-electric Fiat, shares the desire to secure a better future for the next generations. Dedicated to the New 500 but intended for the entire 500 family, the new Mopar electric scooter will become the ideal last mile accelerator in the streets of the city centers.

Mopar "500 Iride"

“Since the first draft of the New 500, the Mopar team has worked with colleagues from the fields of technology, style and product to offer an extensive collection of Authentic Accessories by Mopar for maximum customization that corresponds to the spirit of the model “, Says Francesco Abbruzzesi, Mopar's Head of the Enlarged Europe Markets. “Today we go one step further and introduce the“ 500 Iride ”to start a new era in the field of urban micro-mobility in the name of the Fiat icon. We have drawn on the know-how of Compagnia Ducale, one of our historical license partners, with whom we have already developed tailor-made products with the stylistic features of the Fiat, Lancia, Abarth and Alfa Romeo brands ”.

“500 Iride”: where design and nature meet

The name "500 Iride" is inspired by the iconic round headlights of the 500, which have given it its famous and funny look for 64 years. The same world-famous style can also be found in the round indicators under the handlebars and makes the “500 Iride” unique in the landscape of electric scooters. The name "Iride" is also reminiscent of the rainbow as an expression of beauty in nature. Unsurprisingly, the first available colors are Celestial Blue and Cloud Gray: created exclusively for the New 500, they are reminiscent of the sky and rain clouds, respectively.

Also available is a red livery as a tribute to the new (500) RED Family, based on the collaboration between Fiat and (RED) to spread the common message of responsibility for the environment, the planet and its people. The “500 Iride” in red is reserved for buyers of a new Fiat (RED) until the end of 2021. Exactly this version - (500 Iride) RED - was recently presented at an extraordinary event. Under the motto “Planting the roots of our future”, “La Pista 500”, the largest roof garden in Europe, which was laid out on the roof of the former FIAT factory in Lingotto in Turin, and the extraordinary “Casa 500” museum were inaugurated. Together they form Fiat's “green” manifesto. In this context, the new Fiat (500) RED was presented for the first time. As with the purchase of a car, part of the proceeds from the RED brand electric scooter will be donated to the RED association. The logo takes on the silhouette of an electric scooter and, like the New 500, is highlighted in light blue, which reveals its electric and innovative soul.

Technical data and security

Equipped with a 250 watt electric motor, the “500 Iride” can travel up to 30 kilometers per battery charge and reaches a top speed of 20 kilometers per hour. An empty battery is fully charged in 4,5 hours. The wide running board, the ten-inch air-chamber tires, the rear shock absorber and the built-in display as well as the telescopic handlebar offer a driving experience with the highest level of comfort. With a weight of only 15 kilograms and the easily collapsible locking system, the “500 Iride” can be transported by hand or in the trunk.

A front light with long-range vision and a rear light that flashes when braking ensure safety. When driving in pedestrian zones, pedestrian mode can be activated via the app or directly on the display, which limits the speed to six kilometers per hour. The Safety Pack with a helmet, reflective vest and a parking lock is also available on request.

Custom made tote bag

The “500 Iride” can be conveniently transported in the car in a specially developed carrying bag. It even fits in the trunk of the New 500, with a Velcro fastener and straps for the Isofix system of the rear seats enabling safe, clean and noiseless transport. The "500 Iride" charges the battery with a charging cable included in the scope of delivery for connection to the 230 volt alternating current network.

Everything under control with the app

An app available in the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store enables the "500 Iride" to be controlled via the smartphone. Battery status, range, actual speed, total distance covered and the time required for this, as well as CO2 compensation, can be queried in the app. Cruise control can also be set directly via the app, as can one of the four driving modes: "Normal" for balanced everyday use, "Sherpa" to minimize energy consumption, "Sport" for a livelier journey, and "Pedestrian mode" for use in Pedestrian zones. Finally, the app, which also functions as an electronic key to start the scooter in electric mode, offers multi-user management to share the "500 Iride" with up to three people. The owner is the only person who can allow others to use the "500 Iride" via their personal account. Photo credit: Mopar
