On the way to the lifestyle segment, Hyundai has a hot iron in the fire with the i30 Fastback. After the five-door I30 and the sports version i30 N it is the third face of the i30 series and certainly the most spectacular. Here are no rational reasons for the purchase to be decisive but emotional and that could succeed. Possible competitors are the Audi A3 sedan and the Mercedes CLA and somehow the Koreans have gotten something from both of them as we find. The tuner concentrated on improving handling and increasing performance. The dimensions of the rims are 8 × 18 inches all around and the wheel set is equipped with 225/40 tires. And anyone who knows OZ rims knows that they are almost always particularly light and with a weight of 19,7 kg per total wheel (2,5 kg lighter than the 7,5 × 18 inch series) this is also the case here. Anyone who is familiar with unsprung / rotating masses knows that this is a great advantage, especially in the steering behavior and the response of the gas pressure shock absorbers.
In addition, the lower mass to be moved ensures better acceleration and elasticity, especially with regard to the aforementioned increase in performance. Thanks to engine tuning from Boes Motorsport, the 1.4 T-GDI engine now provides 170 PS & 290 NM (140 PS & 242 NM series) which leads to a high probability that the 9 second mark will be cracked during acceleration and also a slightly increased V.-Max.
