Actually, vintage cars and restorations are not quite the subject of tuningblog.eu. However, when it comes to “tuned” oldtimers, we regularly become weak and have to simply pick up on the stories. This last happened at 1965 Chevrolet Impala from Chip Foose (C. Foose Design, Inc.) and now on the 6 years older Impala by Tom Izzo, whose complete story you can read on www.hotrod.com. The tuning team around this 1959 Chevrolet Impala has made the following changes:
(Photos: hotrod.com)
- Tuck and roll interior
- careful and complete restoration of the sheets, floors and paint
- Frame powdered
- RideTech suspensions
- Smart Air suspension
- Wilwood six- and four-piston calipers with 13-inch discs all around
- 18 × 9 and 18 × 10 inch intro tires with heavy Nitto rubbers in: 555 255 / 45s & 555R 305 / 40s
- 370-inch engine
- 718 PS at 6600 revolutions
- 702 lb-ft of torque at 5200 revolutions per minute
- 6,0 liter small block (new crankshaft, connecting rod Callies and diamond 9,5: 1 piston)
- 3-inch stainless steel exhaust system
If we have forgotten something you notice, then just tell us in the comment box. If we also learn in the near future, new details about this tuning conversion, we inform you of course in this post.
