Audi is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Audi RS Q3 with a sporty special edition: the RS Q3 edition 10 years. This is limited to 555 copies worldwide and is available for the RS Q3 and the RS Q3 Sportback. Since its market launch in 2013, the compact sports car has successfully established itself. The second generation since 2019 has an output of 294 kW (400 hp) and 480 Newton meters of torque. As befits its status, the Audi RS Q3 edition 10 years is equipped with a 2,5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine for propulsion. It transfers its power to the road via a 7-speed S tronic and quattro permanent all-wheel drive. The anniversary edition has exclusive accents both inside and out. These include the new Chronos Gray metallic finish, 21-inch light-alloy wheels, new RS bucket seats with recycled Dinamica microfibre material and jet black applications on the instrument panel. The price for the edition package starts at €5.990 and can be ordered in Germany from the end of October 2022.
Strong in character: the exterior
To celebrate the RS Q3 appropriately, Audi uses two expressive colors, among other things: dew silver matt effect or chronos gray metallic. The latter is intended exclusively for the special edition, while the matt dew silver was added to the color palette of the Audi RS Q3 for the first time this year. Also exclusive to the edition are the black 21-inch light-alloy wheels in a double-spoke design with 225/35 tires. The 19-inch high-performance brake system with carbon-fibre-reinforced ceramic brake discs at the front can be ordered as an option. In this case, the brake calipers are painted gloss anthracite gray as standard; they are alternatively available in red or blue for a surcharge.
The exclusive appearance of the 10 years edition is underlined by numerous add-on parts in black or glossy black. These include the tinted matrix LED headlights with dynamic indicators and the exterior mirror housings. The roof frame, the window slot strips and the inserts of the door attachment strips are finished in glossy black, the same applies to the blades on the front spoiler and the diffuser insert. The sporty appearance is rounded off with the four rings in the single-frame grille and on the rear and the model lettering in glossy black.
Exclusive and sporty: the interior
The occupants sit on new and exclusive RS bucket seats. These feature RS emblems in the neck area of the seat. A special highlight is the seat back cover in matt carbon, which is being used for the first time in the RS Q3. The bucket seats are covered with a leather/Dinamica combination in black and jet black – the new, sporty, elegant color. Dinamica is a microfibre and consists of around 45 percent recycled PET fibres. In addition to the seats, it is used on the application on the instrument panel. Seams in copper, which can be found throughout the interior, provide a special contrast.
This applies, among other things, to the honeycomb quilting in the center panels of the seats, the center armrest, the door armrests, the steering wheel, which is available in a round version or one with a flattened bottom, and the black floor mats with the RS Q3 lettering embroidered in shiny copper. The 10 years edition sets further highlights with exclusive inlays in carbon – such as in the seat backrest cover with a matt finish. The MMI screen has a carbon look - a "1 of 555" lettering adorns the 10,1-inch touch display. The edition-specific entry lighting projects a red diamond in 3D effect onto the floor when the doors are opened.
Irresistible: the drive
In the RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback3 the powerful 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder works. From a displacement of 2,5 liters with 294 kW (400 hp), this now generates a good 17 percent more power than in the previous generation of the RS Q3 since the increase in output to 2015 kW (250 hp) in 340. Compared to the original version from 2013 with 228 kW (310 hp), there is even a 29 percent increase in performance. The maximum torque of 480 Nm is available between 2.250 and 5.850 rpm. The RS Q1 and RS Q4,5 Sportback reach speeds of 3 km/h from a standing start in just 3 seconds. Their top speed is limited to 100 km/h, and the RS Q250 can also drive up to 3 km/h if required.
The special firing order 1-2-4-5-3 and the odd number of cylinders create a unique engine sound. The two-pipe RS exhaust system underscores the characteristic sound of the five-cylinder, while the optionally available RS sports exhaust system makes it even sharper. The five-cylinder unit has won the coveted "International Engine of the Year Award" nine times in a row. The power of the five-cylinder flows as standard via a seven-speed S tronic to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive.
