Crazy concept car: the 2001 Buick Blackhawk V8!

If you've never dated Buick Blackhawk based on a 1996 Buick Riviera, then that doesn't matter. Because neither do we. But the completely crazy hand-made concept car with Carbon roof must not be missing on tuning blog. The Blackhawk was presented to the world in 2001. But what exactly is the Buick Blackhawk V8 actually? This is a one-of-a-kind hardtop convertible with the styling of the 30s and 40s. It is based on the Y-Job from 1938. The cabin is as 2-plus-2 seater (Emergency seats in the back) designed and less spectacular than the look. Still this is from 66er Buick Riviera The modeled interior is an eye-catcher and anything but boring. But everything is different on the outside. The Grill design of the Blackhawk comes from 1939 and impresses with vertical chrome-plated struts in combination with an outer skin with components from the Roadmaster from the period 1941 to 48.

Paintwork in "black cherry"

The concept car is painted in the same color "Black cherry" and due to the "cloned“Doors or the retractable headlights you can see a lot of the color and the body. Incidentally, the 2001 Buick Blackhawk V8 was specially designed and built for Buick's centenary and the press release from the GM press release described the car as follows:

The Buick Blackhawk is not just any “styled” car - it was developed to carry on the legacy of the distinctive Buick design and of course specifically for the target audience of the custom / hot rod show visitors to show the power of the brand.

Under the hood of the fully functional By the way, Blackhawk sits a modified one 1970s 455cui-Buick-GS-Stage-III-V8 with stately 463 PS & 690 NM torquethat one on Petrol injection with MSD ignition has converted. For us Europeans: 455cui are 7,5 liter displacement. This can be calculated with our displacement calculator. The engine was coupled to an electronic one 4-speed automatic transmission (4L80E) and thus the Roadster reached country road speed in under five seconds.

many modern functions on board

Plus there are even modern things like Keyless Entry, a Power Steering, a Servo braking system, Cruise Control, electric windows or Center console built in with hidden controls for the convertible top. By the way: The car was even featured in the movie Bad Boys II used and driven by Will Smith. The Buick was built by Steven Pasteiner from Advanced Automotive Technologies, a former Buick designer. And this one-off piece will soon be on Mecum auctioned. If we get more information, there will of course be an update for this report.
