Super noble: Mercedes-Benz Metris as a Maybach conversion!

Even in times of the energy crisis, economic uncertainties and state-imposed electromobility, the market for special vehicles is booming. And a particularly extravagant conversion is about to begin Bring a trailer for sale. It is a Mercedes-Benz that has been converted to the Maybach equipment line Metris (W 447, Vito for US cities). And the conversion looks convincing, we think. The Maybach name is next Bentley and Rolls-Royce the epitome of luxury in the automotive segment. Nevertheless, in 2013 Daimler decided to discontinue the brand after sluggish sales in recent years. But just two years later, the Maybach name returned as a sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz and has been the symbol of particularly luxurious versions ever since S-Class and the GLS-SUV responsible. With this step, the name for the most luxurious vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz range should be retained.

Metris Maybach conversion

The Mercedes Metris, which is known in this country as the Vito, is in principle less suitable than the V-Class, which is already much higher quality ex works, but it was easily suitable as a basis for the conversion. And since it's the V-Class doesn't exist in the US, you kind of had to take what was available. The Metris is intended by Mercedes more to transport workers to the construction site than to function as a luxury shuttle for VIPs. Nevertheless, the latter is now possible with this vehicle. The 2021 Metris was rebuilt in such a way that it not only looks like a Maybach from the outside, but also has extremely luxurious equipment inside.

But let's stay with the body for now. You can see noble ones Alloy wheels in the Maybach look, there are electrically operated rear sliding doors and even a Maybach grille and an AMG-style rear apron have been installed. Behind the grill, however, the rough 2,0-liter in-line four-cylinder petrol engine continues to work. It's certainly not the smoothest-running engine for a Maybach, but it does its job reliably. Let's get to Interior. Installed are heated and ventilated individual seats in the middle row and there are also heated and ventilated seats in the third row. There are also folding tables in the rear and electrically operated curtains for more privacy.

And if you can judge that from the pictures, then the workmanship lives up to the Maybach name. Everything looks extremely high quality. The cockpit even reveals a luxurious dashboard with lighted air vents instead of the OEM Metris instrument panel. It will be interesting to see what the conversion will look like Bring a trailer will bring. If we get more information, there is of course an update for this report.
