Audi says goodbye to confusing model names!

Audi takes it loud Auto Express (Thankfully) farewell to its double-character naming scheme that has been a headache for many (including us) since 2017. Names like 55 TFSI or 40 TDI, which were based on performance and ranged from “30” for cars with 109-128 hp to “70” for those with at least 536 PS enough, are no longer used. The change that happened yesterday with the revelation of the Q6 E-Tron became official, aims to simplify the model range and make it more transparent for the end customer. Florian Hauser, Head of Sales & Product Marketing for Battery Electric Vehicles at Audi, confirmed that the numbers continued in addition to the well-known titles such as TFSI, TDI and Quattro is no longer needed.

In the future, Audi could add additions such as “Performance" introduce. But the simplification doesn’t just affect electric vehicles. The two-digit combination scheme should also be eliminated for combustion engines. Audi is loud Auto Express but before the decision has been made as to whether the current nomenclature will be completely deleted. There are also further changes to come: This is how it will be A4 coming soon A5 and the A6 to the A7. This points to the A5/S5/RS5 Avant and the A7/S7/RS7 Avant.
