It was just over two months ago that Cupra presented the Formentor his first standalone model. Named after a peninsula on the Spanish holiday island of Mallorca, the difference to the brand brothers is clearly visible. Nevertheless, the well-known corporate technology from the company is hidden under the sheet metal VW. Visually, however, it is completely independent. An aggressive and rugged front, round fog lights in the front apron, a sloping rear, beefy rear fenders and in the case of the 310 hp top model there are even standard 19-inch wheels and 18 inch Brembo braking system with perforated Brake discs front. The rear view impresses with a roof edge spoiler and a rather powerful looking diffuser insert including four exhaust trims. And now the VAG tuner ABT Sportsline has pre-buttoned the SUV coupé. The top model called VZ 2.0 TSI has been allowed to stand up since then More than the 310 PS (228 kW) and 400 Newton meters of torque.

The world's largest tuner for cars from the VW and Audi groups is installing one performance increase on 370 PS (272 kW) and 450 Nm. This is achieved by means of High-tech control unit Abt Engine Control (AEC). And the increase of 60 PS (44 kW) and 50 Nm is of course also reflected in the acceleration. Instead of the previous one 4,9 seconds at 100 km / h only needs the tuned variant 4,6, On Audi RS3 is only slightly faster and the Ford Focus RS even has to queue at the back. Not bad! And nicht schlecht are also the subtle ones amendments on the standard active suspension that was coordinated with racing driver Mattias Ekström. He used to be active for Abt Sportsline in the DTM and this year starts for the Team Abbot Cupra XE in the new Extreme E.

And as a visual highlight, the tuner also installed the in-house one "Abt Sport GR" aluminum rim in format 20 inch with matt black design, concave rim base and completely diamond-turned surface. A version in “glossy black” with a diamond-machined rim flange is also available as an option. And those who want a completely different type of rim can also choose the 19-inch models ABT DR and ER-C as well as the 20 inch wheel FR To fall back on. And finally there is one more for the end of the 1st quarter of 2021 four-pipe Abt exhaust system with matt black stainless steel tailpipes in the format 102 millimeters planned.
