Hard to believe that the story of the Audi S3 has been written since 1999! There is now the compact athlete in the fourth generation and with a maximum 310 PS and 400 Nm. Always been there all wheel drive and the S3 always relied on a four-cylinder. It all began more than 20 years ago with the S3 (8L) as a “sporty compact” mission. In 1999, three years after the start of production of the A3 at the time, the Ingolstadt-based company launched what was then the smallest S version. At the beginning with 210 PS (154 kW) and 270 NM and towards the end of 2001 even with it 225 PS and 280 NM. The later generation than S3P was built until 2010 and then already brought impressive 265 PS (195 kW) and 350 NM With. And the 3rd generation (8V) started in 2013 300 PS and 380 NM and was even on at the end of production 310 PS and 400 NM (with S tronic) pushed.
the new 8Y isn't really any stronger
And then came the 8Y, but that one not really stronger has been compared to its predecessor without OPF. He also "only" delivers the 310 PS & 400 NM of the 8V. And it doesn’t bring them to the road faster or more impressively! On the contrary. According to Audi, the compact accelerates from 4,8 to 0 km / h in 100 seconds. The Sportback predecessor with seven-speed DCT even managed this in 4,5 seconds. Even as a sedan with an OPF-castrated 300 hp, it was a spike in 4,7 seconds faster. So not really an improvement in terms of performance. At least not in series production. It looks completely different when the tuner ABT Sportsline takes on the two-liter turbo four-cylinder under the hood. The Kempten company gives the 2.0 TFSI of the S3 more power. And not only that. ABT also has three rim designs and further options for interior and exterior at the start.
370 PS (272 kW) and 450 Nm in the S3
But let's get to performance improvement first Abbot Power, which can be ordered from January 2021. It improves the factory performance data from 310 hp (228 kW) and 400 Nm to at least 370 PS (272 kW) and 450 Nm. That is an increase of 60 hp and 50 Nm. But with that you still lie 30 PS and 50 NM "under" the one presented in 2016 ABT S3 of the model generation 8V. Thanks to OPF! Incidentally, the upgrade is made possible by the control unit Abt Engine Control. And as already mentioned, there are three rim designs for the fast compact sports car. The photo vehicle is fitted with 20-inch SPORT GR rims in "glossy black" and there are also the SPORT FR, also in 20 ", with a classic 5-spoke design and painted in" mystic black ".
Abt also has small details for the cabin
And the 5-arm sports rim ER-C is also available for the Audi S3 from Abt Sportsline. It is 19 inches tall and available in “gun metal diamond polished” or “matt black”. For the cabin there is also an optional start-stop switch cap with an integrated and illuminated Abt logo and from spring 2021 an Abt silencer system made of stainless steel with 4 tailpipe trims in black matt with a diameter of 102 mm should be able to be installed at the rear.
