People with no or only limited leg function can (actually) not drive a car. Or is it? For as long as there have been cars, the controls have basically always been the same: Accelerator pedal, brake pedal, clutch pedal, easy to use with legs. The invention of hand throttle and the handbrake changed that. And handling one completely from the pedals independent system an American is now demonstrating on his YouTube channel. He has his 510 hp strong BMW M4 Competition so rebuilt that he is complete without pedals. In his videos, the enthusiastic mechanic shows how easy it is to operate the car with just his hands. A lever was installed behind the steering wheel that controls the brake and the gas. Since the sports coupé is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, there was no clutch pedal installed in the M4 anyway. And the BMW driver explains that it's really easy to use once you get used to it.
The BMW is not the first converted vehicle by the American
On the Youtube channel "Adaptive M' the American shows the changes he has made to his M4. It also provides an insight into everyday things for us. Among other things, he demonstrates how to get from a wheelchair into a vehicle, despite the sports seats and sporty, wide side skirts. The wheelchair, which can be folded and dismantled, then finds its place in the footwell behind the passenger seat. And the M4 Competition is not his first vehicle. He previously had a BMW M3 of the E92 series. Modified accordingly, of course.
