Who the current Land Rover Defender is not radical enough in terms of its off-road capabilities, for which the team from Defender mods now a solution ready. The brand new "tank Edition" kit for the popular off-roader replaces all four wheels with chains that Defender should give more possibilities in impassable terrain. The chain drives are bolted to the vehicle with the help of specially made adapters and without any changes to the chassis. The adapters simply come on the wheel mounting points and that's it. This means that changing from an SUV to a hardcore off-roader is almost like changing a wheel. The chains are made of high-strength, heat-treated and particularly light aluminum and are loud Defender mods a complete chain drive weighs around 160 kg, so the complete set around 640 kg brings on the scales.
Tank Edition kit for Land Rover Defender
The system is 16 inches (approx. 41 cm) wide and once the kit is installed, it stands Defender much higher than with normal wheels. According to the manufacturer, the ground clearance of the Defender has increased enormously 508 mm (20 inches) and has thus largely doubled. As a Tank Edition, however, it is much more difficult to get in and out of the car, and the top speed is reduced to around 64 km/h. By the way, the current photos are still 3D renderings. So they don't show a real vehicle. However, the company is already taking orders and the kit is expected to be available by the end of 2023. Unfortunately, the price for the tank tracks has not yet been announced. If we get more information, there is of course an update for this report.
