This clean Chevrolet Impala Wagon (Kombi) with nickname "Impressive" from 1963 recently has the GoodGuys Custom of the Year Prize won. Brad Ranweiler founded the company "Show Cars Automotive" With Based in Minnesota and there Since then, the company has specialized in particular in the old Chevys from the period 1958 to 64. And this gem was formerly an extremely shabby specimen from 1963. The 63-64 station wagons are particularly rare, especially as two-door. InThen decided about nine years ago Ranweilers Sons Brady and Cody transform the 4-door station wagon into something unique. No body part was left untouched and even chopped is the unique piece. And instead of making use of one of the usual LS crate engines, they opted for a classic one 409 big block V8. It was reduced to 509 ci (8,34 liters) drilled out and has one Hillborn fuel injection

600 PS from the 409 Big Block V8!

Overall are over 100 special components built around the engine. Everything on the engine is handcrafted and the result flows into 600 PS at a 4L80 automatic transmission as well as a Ford 9 inch rear. And in the cabin?

There was one dashboard in the typical style from 1960 with Show from Classic Instruments and that M&M interior impressed with Italian Manager and one continuous Center console between two 59 Cadillac Eldorado seats. The sitting position is a few centimeters moved backwards, because in the last 60 years humanity has not exactly gotten any smaller. Behind the second row of seats is an elegant one Cargo space divider and even the trunk is completely finished and lined.

the vehicle stands on a kind of Morrison chassis

With space for four adults and lots of luggage, the station wagon is still perfect for a weekend trip with friends. Incidentally, the unique piece is on one Type Morrison chassis. But let's come back to the subject now chopping. To be able to do that, you didn't just have to have all of them Spars shorten, too every slice is made to measure. The restoration of the structure of the rear doors and the construction of a new tailgate were particularly extensive. The vehicle won the coveted award in 2020 Ridler Award to the Detroit Motorama and at Battle of the Builders At the SEMA show, the Chevy then received the Designers Award 2021.
