810 PS & 1030 NM in the Mercedes AMG GT63 S "Cummander"

810 PS & 1030 NM in the Mercedes AMG GT63 S "Cummander"

The Team of Wheelsandmore from Baesweiler is known for sometimes bizarre project names. When a vehicle is finished, it almost always gets a very special surname. Regardless of whether 1.000 PS R8 "APOCALYPTICAR", Mercedes-AMG GT R "Hypaero" or Lamborghini Huracan "Diabolico", there is almost always a subtle hint on the way. And now the next surname with reference to Carl-Alexander-Platz 5 (that's where the Wheelsandmore team sits) surfaced. Curtain up for the "Cummander"! No, Wheelsandmore is not planning a makeover and has not chosen a World-of-Warcraft character. The somewhat dirty and slightly provocative naming of the current project vehicle based on a Mercedes-Benz GT63 AMG (X 290) has been deliberately chosen and flirts with the terms power and dedication in different ways.

over 800 hp provide propulsion

The fact is: Anyone who has once taken a seat in the Wheelsandmore GT63 AMG driving machine with over 800 hp will not be impressed by any other GranTurismo so quickly or even come close to it. And of course the ultimate performance increase, which the 4,0 liter biturbo (M178 DE40 AL) could endure, is to blame. In essence, the upgrade is already known from the Hypaero mentioned above, which uses the Mercedes-AMG GT R Coupe as the basis. The Coupe in turn also has the M178 DE40 AL under the hood. Mercedes is currently stuffing the V8, almost in almost every large AMG model. It is almost like in the 90s, when the same actors appeared in different erotic strips again and again in other constellations and filled the fans and friends of the then objectionable films with joy.

the ultimate AMG with additional power from WAM

And in 2018 Mercedes AMG decided to bring the versatile and proven 4,0 liter V8 to use in the 4-door GT63 S Coupe for sport-loving family man. Either as the AMG GT 63 4MATIC + with 585 PS & 800 NM torque or as the top model AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC + which even got crazy 639 PS and 900 NM torque. Actually more than enough, right? But as it is, just as men and women get used to everything over time, the performance data of the AMG GT 63, like the erotic factor in some marriages, are at some point a habit. But there is still something going on, right? Tuner Wheelsandmore brings fresh momentum to the marriage between man and machine and now has 3 different power levels up to 810 PS in its range. And it doesn't matter whether the base vehicle is the 585 or 639 hp variant.

3 power levels are available

  • Level 1: The GT 63 AMG receives up to 700 PS & 975 Nm torque by means of software optimization or an easy-to-install plug-and-play tuning module.
  • Level 2: For the plug-and-play tuning module, Wheelsandmore is installing new downpipes with sports catalysts and a flap-controlled exhaust system from Capristo. The result is 750PS and 1010 Nm torque.
  • Level 3: In addition to the changes in Stage 1 & 2, the turbochargers have to be replaced by ones with a larger compressor unit and new bearings. The result is 810 hp and 1030 Nm of torque

new rims are also in the range

Like the other premium manufacturers, Mercedes AMG wants to offer its customers the maximum possible ex-works when it comes to wheel / tire combinations. This makes it difficult for many tuners to find alternatives. If required, the GT63 AMG can roll onto the road with 275/35/21 and 315/30/21 tires ex works, so there is little room for improvement. But Wheelsandmore has come up with something. As the first tuner ever, they have a complete 22 inch conversion ready for the Model X 290. Wheelsandmore has developed corresponding rims for the matching Michelin tires and has already installed them on the black exhibition vehicle. The Cummander rolls on black BiColor rims of the type ZV-1 in 10,5 × 22 ET24 and 11,5 × 22 ET22 on the asphalt. The wheel set is equipped with Michelin tires in the format 285/30/22 and 335/25/22. And the front of the Alus is glossy and sealed with a clear varnish, similar to the original look. There was also a customizable central locking nut and of course matching TPMS sensors.

there are also changes to the chassis

And finally, the undercarriage was also chosen. Here, a lowering module that can be controlled using a smartphone app is used, which enables the user to freely adjust the air suspension by means of a Bluetooth connection. If you want, Wheelsandmore can also program the lowering in the branch in Baesweiler near Aachen. We currently have no further details on the Cummander GT63 AMG. If we receive timely information on further changes not previously mentioned, there is of course an update for this report.
