Hongqi

Hongqi - the former state bodies of Mao suddenly become cool. The Hongqi brand, which belongs to the large Chinese automotive group FAW, has been producing state and representative sedans for the Chinese market since 1958. The first model was the so-called Hongqi CA72, of which only 1965 copies were made until 200. Today's models of the brand, which uses a stylized red flag as a radiator emblem, are based on models from FAW's joint venture partners. These would be for example Mazda, Audi, Volkswagen or Toyota, Currently, only 3 different sedans are on the market, but until 2025 plans to expand their model range on 17 various models. In Munich, the new design center of Hongqi was recently opened, which is the first development center of the brand outside of China. This should be the starting signal for a major model offensive that will benefit customers around the world. Planned competitors of the brand are not just Audi, BMW or Mercedes, but also Rolls-Royce, from which one has wooed the chief designer, who runs the new Munich design center of the Chinese, and Bentley. Tuning could play a relatively important role in the smaller of the planned models, but the brand is not yet known for vehicle tuning, although this could change very quickly.
