New Hongqi H9 - a Lolls Loyce you can't take seriously or a true S-Class competitor?

Last year, the traditional Chinese brand Hongqi started to present several models for the mass market for the first time. Among the models were three SUVs, one of which is only available with electric power. Now, on January 8, the new luxury sedan H9 was unveiled, which should compete with the luxury sedans of German brands. The high-pitched two-tone paint surprised all visitors to the presentation, because the latest Chinese model was painted in a violet that ended in a beige. Thus, the coloring was very much based on that of the blessed Maybach models and certainly did not meet everyone's taste. Fortunately, photos of a monochrome, black Hongqi H9, which is much more subtle than its flashy brother who loves show effects, are already circulating on the web. In terms of design, the new H9 is very much based on a current Rolls-Royce, at least on the front. This makes a lot with the large, rectangular grille and the narrow headlights, and the oversized Hongqi logo, the stylized red flag, appears perfectly because it is enthroned in the middle and quickly makes you forget any thoughts of an extendable Emily. From the side, the 5,20m long limousine is an impressive appearance, and the typical Hongqi sideline, which was already worn by the old state limousines of Mao Zedong, should of course not be missing from the current H9.

272 PS and 400 Newtonmeter

From the rear, the sedan with its vertical taillights, which contain a bow, reminds of the (former) "class enemy" Cadillac, and above all because of the tear-off edge at the rear, it carries clear features of a Cadillac STS. The new Chinese is powered either by a 2-liter turbo gasoline engine with 4 cylinders, 245 HP and 380 Nm of maximum torque, or a 3-liter compressor gasoline engine with 6 cylinders, 272 HP, which pushes 400 Newton meters onto the drive shaft. The power is always transmitted via a dual clutch transmission, which is very unusual for this class, since in the luxury class, converter machines usually do their job. Hongqi states that both models need less than 8 seconds for the standard sprint from 0 to 100 km / h. This is not exhilarating, but it is enough to chase one or the other diesel taxi from the left lane. The Chinese have not yet given any information on the top speed, but it should be around 225 - 230 kilometers per hour. In terms of comfort and safety equipment, the new sedan should leave nothing to be desired. The presentation model, for example, was equipped with an electric single seat system in the rear, which also included a massage function. It can also be assumed that all driver assistance systems that are currently on the market will be available.

Total price approx. 50.000 euros

There are already unconfirmed assumptions that the new Hongqi H9 should reach level 2,5 in terms of semi-autonomous driving. In all likelihood, this would include systems such as a traffic jam assistant, automatic traffic sign recognition with brake intervention or a steering assistant. The price in China will start at around RMB 250.000, which corresponds to around EUR 35.000 according to the current exchange rate. With the usual taxes and duties, the car comes to about 45 - 50.000 euros if you want to bring it to Germany. This is the basis, mind you, because with the 3-liter V6 and absolute full equipment, the model will cost about 450.000 RMB, almost double. In any case, it is a fascinating automobile, and if the quality is right, then the model should at least be as successful on the home market as the SUV models, which are currently mixing up the premium segment.
