Lamborghini Squadra Corse presents the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, the new version of the racing car that will contest the three continental series of the Lamborghini championship as the sole main player from 2022. Radical improvements in aerodynamics and the uncompromising design penned by the Lamborghini Centro Stile make the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 the most powerful racing car to date in the brand championship, which entered round 2021 in 13. "Seven years have passed since the first Huracán Super Trofeo was presented in Pebble Beach and today Squadra Corse is writing a new chapter in its history," explains Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "The Huracán is one of the bestsellers in the history of the brand and the Super Trofeo has also contributed to its success."

2009 drivers have taken part in the Super Trofeo since 950, completing more than 310 hours of racing on the world's most prestigious tracks. Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, explains: “The Super Trofeo offers the ideal opportunity to put the technical and aerodynamic solutions of our road and GT vehicles through their paces. With the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 we have taken another significant step forward. In April 2021 we celebrated the milestone of the 400th Huracán racing car: With the Super Trofeo EVO2, we want to break the 500 mark in a few years. "

Aerodynamics and design are the areas on which Squadra Corse and Centro Stile have focused the most. In terms of aesthetics, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 takes the design of its predecessors to the extreme and dashes forward with stylistic elements that will be incorporated into road vehicles in the coming years. The radically changed front section comes up with new, powerful full-LED headlights in hexagonal design and a pronounced "omega-shaped" lip, which acts as a connecting element between the carbon fins and is stylistically reminiscent of the Huracán STO. Also brand new are the “Air Curtain” air inlets, which not only optimize air resistance, but also the airflow that is guided past the side panels.

Carbon wing dominates the rear end

The rear section, dominated by the large carbon wing, is characterized by a minimalist design and lightweight construction philosophy. The frames of the new LED headlights pay tribute to the design of the Countach and lie perfectly on the curved bumper made of carbon, which creates a harmonious connection between the aerodynamic add-on parts arranged behind the wheels and the revised diffuser fins.

Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini Head of Design: “When the starting shot for the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 project was fired, we immediately thought of the“ Racing in Style ”concept, a fusion of the typical aggressiveness of the Huracán racing car with the classic style elements of the Lamborghini DNA. In addition, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 has a futuristic look that partially anticipates certain design elements of the next generation of road vehicles. "

The innovations also affect numerous body components such as the rocker panels and the aerodynamic rear attachments already mentioned. Here, carbon fiber was used instead of plastic without negatively affecting operating costs. In addition, the rear fenders now consist of a single component that includes part of the side spoiler in order to achieve optimal surface continuity.

huge Squadra Corse braking system

The braking system designed and developed by Squadra Corse is also new: the steel front brake discs range from 380 to 390 mm. The new brake calipers are designed for newly designed brake pads with a larger surface in order to optimize performance and consumption. A V10 naturally aspirated engine with 5,2 l and a maximum output of 620 hp is used as the drive unit, which is kept in check by a sequential X-Trac 6-speed gearbox coupled with the rear-wheel drive.

Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini Head of Motorsport: “The Super Trofeo forms the foundation of our customer racing concept, which attracts and inspires young talents and amateur drivers alike. The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 is dedicated to both driver categories and has been specially designed to offer an even more captivating driving experience while taking maximum account of operating costs. "

The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 will be presented to the public on May 28th in Le Castellet as part of the second round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season. The price for the European market is 250.000 euros excluding taxes. Customers can retrofit their Huracán Super Trofeo EVO with a special set available from the beginning of 2022.
