Lexus has unveiled a special limited edition of its flagship LC500 coupe in Japan. It's called Edge and is a real eye-catcher with the discreet aerodynamic add-on parts and the exclusive color scheme. But what makes the LC500 Edge so special? The name Edge says it all: The coupe has several wind-deflecting elements with sharp edges, which should improve the design and driving dynamics. The most striking thing is the large black wing at the rear, which provides more downforce. There are also two canards on the front bumper that create air vortices to control airflow along the body. According to Lexus, these ensure more precise handling and additional steering stability.
Lexus LC500 Edge Edition
The Lexus LC500 Edge is painted in an exclusive color called Hakugin, a matte white-silver that elegantly contrasts with the jet black roof and black mirrors. The interior, on the other hand, is a monochromatic dark blue called Katsuiro, inspired by traditional Japanese indigo dyeing techniques. The color combination is intended to reflect Japanese aesthetics and craftsmanship.
In addition to the optical features, the LC500 Edge has also received technical improvements. Aluminum rear suspension parts are now hollow to reduce unsprung weight and further improve responsiveness. Rear differential backlash has also been adjusted and engine variance reduced to optimize performance. The 5,0-liter V8 still delivers 471 hp and is coupled to a 10-speed automatic.
Customers are selected by drawing lots
The Lexus LC500 Edge is a rare beauty: only 60 examples will be built for the Japanese market and customers will be selected by lottery, which runs until June 27th. To enter, however, one must live in Japan and be willing to pay 17.600.000 yen or $125.560 for the coupe. Anyone who can get hold of one of these gems will certainly have a lot of fun with it.
