There are cars that push the boundaries of possibility and capture the imagination of car enthusiasts worldwide. The Do Forty is exactly that kind of car. A hybrid of a classic 1969 Mustang and the technology of a modern 2005 Ford GT, available in over 11.000 working hours became a supercar in a class of its own. The story of the Mach Forty does not begin in the halls of Ford, but in the workshops of Eckert's Rod & Custom, a team of tuning specialists with a vision. Inspired by Ford's never-realized Mach 2 project, Terry Lipscomb purchased a damaged 1969 fastback Mustang. But instead of just restoring it, he had bigger plans. With the design sketches from Mike Miernik with his luggage in hand, he turned to Dave Eckert and his team in Molalla, Oregon, to make the dream a reality.
Make Forty Ford Mustang
The challenge of the project was of course enormous. The old Mustang body had to be heavily modified to accommodate the powerful 5,4 liter V8 “mid-engine” from the much more modern GT40. The engine, spiced up with a Whipple 4.0 liter compressor and further upgrades, unleashes a performance of up to 850 PS and 1.060 Nm Torque. The whole thing is about one Ricardo six-speed manual transmission brought onto the road from the Ford GT (built 2005-2006). But the Mach Forty doesn't just have a lot to offer under the hood. On the outside, it impresses us with its simple appearance Silver painted body and specially manufactured Schott billet aluminum alloy wheels, designed by Mike Miernik.
Winner of the 2012 SEMA Show
The Interior, although significantly modernized, still exudes the charm and elegance of the 60s. The world got its first look at the masterpiece on the SEMA Show 2012 in Las Vegas, where the Do Forty not only took the hearts of visitors by storm, but also took first place at the annual event Gran Turismo Awards cleared away. And for all the gaming fans out there: Yes, you can even get the dream car in the video games Gran Turismo Sport and Gran Turismo 7 drive. In conclusion, the Mach Forty is more than just a car. It is the result of passion, vision and craftsmanship. A vehicle that bridges the gap between past and present and shows what is possible when you believe in your dreams.
