Maserati lifts the curtain on the GT2 at the 24 Hours of Spa!

Maserati has lifted the veil on its new GT24 race car ahead of the venerable 2 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The first big performance on the circuit is for the season finale in the Fanatec GT2 European Series intended. At the world-famous Spa 24 Hours, the most prestigious GT3 event ever, Maserati unveiled its latest feat on four wheels, the Maserati GT2, presented to the audience. After the shakedown in early March and extensive testing to set up the car, Maserati pulled the curtain on the all-new racer designed to bring Maserati back onto the international GT circuit. Previously, Maserati had built a successful reputation with the winning MC12 GT1, which dominated the racing scene from 2005-2010.

2023 Maserati GT2

The GT2 is a compromise between Maserati's historical heritage, the current position and the way forward. It draws on the legacy of the MC12 while exploiting the full potential of the MC20 supercar in its racing version, by revving the Nettuno V6 engine with 463 kW/621 hp. The GT2 is preparing to mark a new era in the future of the trident, with the ambition to write new and exciting chapters in motorsport history. Maserati has a racing car for privateers and amateur racers at the start. The GT2 is intended to compete in GT2 class championships and individual events and, as mentioned above, will make its track debut at the 2023 Fanatec GT European Series in the latter part of the season. It is intended for use throughout the 2024 season.

Maserati is also back in Formula 1

Davide Grasso, the CEO of Maserati, gives his assessment of the new GT2 bullet: "Racing has always been in our DNA and spirit. Our story began on the racetrack and evolved on the road. The decision to return to racing is part of a broader strategic agenda that began this year with the debut in Formula E and is now complemented by a return to GT racing. Now more than ever, we want to renew our passion for racing, which has always shaped us and driven us to achieve great things. Before the 24-hour race started in Spa, Andrea Bertolini gave a demonstration with the GT2 on the Ardennes roller coaster race track.

About Thomas Wachsmuth

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
