Wankel madness - 1974 Mazda RX-4 with 792 hp!

Japanese Restomod projects In contrast to US restomods, they are still in their infancy. It is all the more astonishing what we discovered for you on the internet: one Mazda RX4 with fabulous 792 PS! For all of you who cannot spontaneously assign a Mazda RX-4, it should be said that this vehicle is a wobbly Model that acts as both Limousine, Combo and two-door Coupe was available, and was one of the predecessors of today's Mazda 6. This model from the 1970s was sold down under as well as in the USA and in Europe, and gave Mazda a reputation as a technologically avant-garde brand even then, as it was one in its class thanks to the rotary engine special position had taken. In the tuning scene, the RX-4 has so far hardly made an appearance at all, and an absolute one Exotwhen it comes to modifying oldies.

Oldtimer in perfect condition.

Whole 16 years the old Mazda is already in the hands of its current owner, and he has created a very special work of art from the former family car, which shows us that there are car-crazy petrolheads in Australia who modify their motorized treasures a lot. Outwardly, the RX-4 is probably the mother of all Sleeper, because the sheer power of the turbo rotary engine cannot be seen in the car. The classic alloy wheels that are in the front Loft bed design come along, and back over a Low bed optics have five spokes each and blend in almost perfectly with the fantastic visual condition of the vehicle. With such a copy you would be on everyone Oldie exhibition shine, regardless of the performance slumbering in the inconspicuous vehicle.

Three-disc rotary engine with turbochargingWankel madness - 1974 Mazda RX-4 with 792 hp!

Before the current engine found its way into the RX-4, the old Japanese also had a wobbly heart, which thanks two discs and a turbocharger already got more power from the car than expected. But with the transplant of the 20B three-disc rotary turbos (Promaz 20B 3 slices) knew the power curve only one way: strong upwards! The three-disc rotary engine, which has the equivalent of 2 liters of displacement, generates thanks to one Garrett GTX47 turbocharger incredible 792 hp. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about the maximum torque, but it should also be at dizzying heights. The biggest surprise, however, is that this PS monster only has one Three-stage automatic (T400 3), which transmits the power to the rear wheels. According to our information, this car is classified as Daily Driver Moved in everyday life in Australia, but it would certainly be much more appropriate for the quarter mile going to show the taillights to stunned competitors.

Our conclusion on this Wankel monster:

We can hardly believe it ourselves that you can pack a 792 hp car so discreetly in an oldie dress. The Wankel vintage project from Australia is probably one of the most unusual tuning projects we have ever seen. Congratulations to the tuner, because you won't find such a perfectly preserved oldie with this engine power that quickly. This means that the Restomod from Australia can easily keep up with the old and souped-up US cars that are currently popping up like mushrooms. If you are also very enthusiastic about the project, then we recommend that you take a look at our picture gallery. If we get more information about the changes, there will of course be an update for this report. You will be informed of this if you simply do ours Feed subscribe to.
