Has been offering for two years Porsche Classic with the Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) and the Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus) two infotainment systems for numerous vintage and youngtimers of the brand. These retrofit devices make it possible, among other things, to use Apple CarPlay (from iPhone 5) and Android Auto™ for media playback, navigation and telephony. There is now also a corresponding offer for the sixth generation 911, 997 from model years 2005 to 2008, early Boxster and Cayman generation 987 from model years 2005 to 2008 and the first generation Cayenne from model years 2003 to 2008. In addition, Porsche is offering specific devices for different regions for the first time.
Infotainment for Porsche classics
“The demand for contemporary networking for our timeless classics is very high. And soon after the successful start of sales of the first infotainment systems for retrofitting, we received corresponding inquiries from owners of earlier 911s of the 997 generation," says Ulrike Lutz, Head of Porsche Classic. "That's why we are now significantly expanding the range of Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus devices for retrofitting."
At that time, the Porsche models mentioned above were already optionally equipped with second-generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) in 2-DIN format. The new PCCM Plus replaces these original built-in devices precisely, as does the CDR 23 CD radio (Cayenne) and the CDR 24 CD radio (Boxster/Cayman). Haptics and optics are based on components already installed in the vehicle, such as the climate control panel or pushbutton switches. The PCCM Plus is thus seamlessly integrated into the ambience. The Porsche logo shows at first glance that the devices were developed by Porsche. Peripheral parts such as amplifiers, loudspeakers or antennas can still be used. The navigation displays in the instrument cluster will also continue to be supported.
with a 7-inch touchscreen
The PCCM Plus is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen with modern graphics. Thanks to DAB+, digital radio stations can be received with the European version of the device. The version for the USA and Canada, on the other hand, is prepared for the SiriusXM® satellite radio. The driver has access to the latest onboard navigation with Porsche-specific points of interest (POI) in 2D or 3D. Map updates will be offered at regular intervals in the future. Media playback is possible via USB stick, Bluetooth® and via Apple CarPlay (from iPhone 5) and Android Auto™. Another function is the trip computer with lots of useful driving data. Personal vehicle settings can also be saved in the 911, Boxster and Cayman. Depending on the vehicle equipment, this memory function can be used in the areas of lights, windshield wipers, air conditioning and locking.
The new PCCM Plus devices cost 1.520,37 euros¹. The devices and the separately available map material can be ordered from the Porsche Classic Online Shop or the Porsche Centers. Installation by a Porsche Classic Partner or Porsche Center is recommended. Photo credit: Porsche
