"The safety car fleet is at the center of our commitment to MotoGP, and we are very proud to be starting the season with four new vehicles for the first time in our more than 20-year history as the 'Official Car of MotoGP'", says Markus Flasch, Managing Director of BMW M GmbH. “Our three new safety cars are based on series models that impress with their outstanding performance and driving dynamics and are therefore perfectly suited for use in MotoGP. In addition, there is the new BMW M 1000 RR as a safety bike. The first M model on two wheels was developed in motorsport and meets the highest demands on the racetrack. We look forward to the season opener in Qatar and to seeing our new fleet in action. "

already the 23rd season together

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, adds: “With the new safety car fleet, our partner BMW M is once again proving how much commitment and passion he brings to MotoGP. We're going into our 2021rd season together in 23, and the presentation of the fleet with three new safety cars and the new safety bike is a real statement. This shows the strength and seriousness of our partnership, and we are very grateful to BMW M GmbH for this commitment. "

Even in their production versions, the new safety cars are designed entirely for sportiness and perfect driving behavior at the limit. For use as security vehicles in MotoGP, they only had to be modified in a few areas. The modifications include, among other things, light bars, front flashers, hoods with motorsport quick-release fasteners as well as power emergency stop switches for overseas transport. In the BMW M4 Competition Coupé Safety Car, the rear seat was also removed and a roll bar and 4-point sports belts were installed. In addition, the exhaust systems of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 Safety Cars have been modified.

You are breaking new ground when it comes to colors!

In terms of colors, BMW M is breaking new ground this year with the Safety Cars. Instead of classic motorsport white, the safety cars are presented in the exclusive colors of M series models: the BMW M3 Competition Sedan Safety Car in Frozen Gray Dark Metallic, the BMW M4 Competition Coupé Safety Car in São Paulo Yellow and the BMW M5 CS Safety Car in Frozen Deep green metallic. When designing the livery, BMW M once again opted for a classic, puristic safety car livery. It highlights the respective basic colors of the vehicles and at the same time underlines the typical look of a safety car. The new BMW M 1000 RR Safety Bike is white with the familiar M colors and thus bears the livery with which the BMW M 1000 RR also competes in the Superbike World Championship.
