Toyota GR86 receives a carbon fiber swan neck wing in Japan!

For the current Toyota GR86 there is now a powerful one on request Carbon fiber swan neck wing (in German, a fixed rear wing). This promises not only a fierce look, but also more performance on the road. The steep price of 517.000 yen (about 3.269 EUR) may seem high at first glance, but given the technical finesse and the possibilities that the wing reveals, it could prove to be an added value. The engineers at Toyota dug deep into the technology box to do this XXL component to create. The heart of the wing is the carbon fiber reinforced plastic, which not only offers high strength, but also ensures a light construction. The massive holding feet, on the other hand, are made of Aluminium.

The mounting points are located directly on the trunk lid, which allows for optimal aerodynamic performance, but of course permanently damages the tailgate. The creation of the wing was made possible by the application of a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis enabled. Technology has allowed engineers to design the wing to generate downforce without unduly increasing drag. The result is a harmonious interplay of form and function that firmly connects the GR86 on the road with the asphalt. But what really sets the wing apart is its adaptability.

suitable for the aerodynamic package

It is adjustable and allows the driver to choose between three different settings to choose for the wing angle: 0 degrees, 1,25 degrees and 2,5 degree. Versatility allows riders to customize the riding experience based on preferences and riding conditions. To ensure optimal performance, Toyota recommends combining with the optional Aerodynamic Package. While the standard version of the package is available for 380.600 yen (about 2.400 EUR), the enhanced variant offers even more extensive aerodynamic optimization. The extended variant includes a new one front panel, individual Mirror covers, a roof spoiler and side skirts and is available for 492.800 yen (about 3.116 EUR).
