Of course not, says Dacia and equips the Jogger with a sophisticated modular roof rack that combines functionality and aesthetics. Denis, product manager for the jogger at Dacia, listened carefully to frequently expressed customer requests, so that with a little intuition the idea for this clever system arose. When the car is fully occupied and the trunk is full, the roof remains the best transportation alternative. But you have to buy a luggage rack and take the time to assemble it, which is neither cheap nor practical. With the modular roof rack for the new cross-over jogger, Dacia is once again underlining that the brand hits the mark with smart solutions when it comes to customer requirements - true to the motto: "Simply good".

An idea that is not easy to implement

Similar to the Sandero Stepway and the Duster, the jogger signals a thirst for adventure with its railing over the entire length of the roof. In Europe, such devices first appeared on cars in the 1970s to carry a luggage rack or other crossbars for transporting items on the roof. However, you had to buy the carrier systems in addition and have time to attach them to the car or remove them again.

If the carrier was not needed, the mostly bulky accessories took up valuable storage space. Dacia engineers took all of these aspects into account when developing the modular roof gallery. Even in the pre-project phase, the idea of ​​converting the side members into cross members came up, remembers Denis. Easier said than done because the system had to be easy to attach, practical to use and of course relatively inexpensive.

A very simple manual system

For every new model, one of the most important goals for developers is a price that is affordable for a wide range of buyers without sacrificing functionality. The budget is therefore naturally very limited. However, the most valuable ideas often come about when there is little leeway. Instead of an expensive automated system, the team developed a very simple manual system that has a special key in the glove compartment and takes less than a minute to install. The conversion is easy and the roof can be loaded with heavy or bulky cargo in next to no time. “It really only takes a minute to change the position of the roof rails. Loads of up to 80 kilograms can be transported, ”says Denis. The most important point in the specifications was to make the modular roof rack system affordable for everyone. It is now part of the standard equipment of almost all Jogger variants with the exception of the entry-level version. From the second, best-selling equipment variant, it is part of the standard scope.
