At the SEMA tuning fair, Toyota's US brand Scion showed an open version of the GT 86. The series production of the Japanese sports car is still not planned. The tuner Cartel Customs showed that you can "open" the GT86 and as we should think. The open design looks very chic and with the rear window blind in the 80s style, the GT86 is a real eye-catcher.

The wide body kit also immediately catches the eye and a look under the hood reveals that a turbocharger gives the four-cylinder a decent boost in performance. Nevertheless, Toyota has not yet commented on whether there will be an open version of the GT86 - or the Scion FR-S. In 2013, a near-series Roadster version was presented at the Geneva Motor Show, but confirmation for series production is still pending. The fact that the plant in Japan has already reached its capacity limits could possibly also be to blame.

From an economic point of view, it would certainly be difficult to represent the explanation of another body shape. Another argument is the fact that the market for open sports cars is less in demand. Exceptions are Germany, England and a few parts of the USA. Whether this is sufficient for Toyota, the open version but still ready for production remains uncertain.
