2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter Equipment & Co. presented!

Launched on May 18, 2023, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter is an innovative and powerful addition to the Tacoma lineup. It was specially developed for longer off-road trips and overlanding enthusiasts. The Trailhunter is powered by Toyota's new 2,4-liter turbocharged i-Force four-cylinder. The highlight of the new engine range is the i-Force Max hybrid version, which delivers 326 hp and an impressive 630 NM of torque. The high torque is already available from 1.700 rpm. Other engine options include a base 228 hp/330 NM and an eight-speed automatic, a 270 hp/310 lb-ft i-Force version with a six-speed manual, and a 278 hp/420 NM i-Force version and an eight-speed automatic. The previous 2,7 liter and 3,5 liter engines have been phased out in favor of the new engine series.

The Tacoma's new Proactive Driving System combines camera and radar systems to create a state-of-the-art form of adaptive cruise control. It allows braking, throttle and steering inputs, even on slightly curved roads. The Tacoma TRD Pro also features new off-road upgrades including improved articulation through an optional front stabilizer bar release and additional off-road cameras with a multi-terrain monitor displayed on a 14,0-inch touchscreen. The Multi-Terrain Select drive mode feature has also been expanded to include both 4WD High and 4WD Low, with the three selectable modes: mud, Schmutz and sand.

The Trailhunter also got special off-road improvements. It replaces the TRD Pro's Fox shocks with Old Man Emu forged 2,5-inch monotube shocks specifically designed for long-distance off-road travel. There are also new steel bumpers, sturdier rear recovery points, and increased rigidity for things like rooftop tents. Other Trailhunter features include an electronically controlled two-speed high/low range transfer case and an electronic rear locking differential.

There's also a new multi-link coil spring rear suspension that comes standard on most models. Depending on the configuration chosen, the Tacoma can also be specified with a new electronic front stabilizer bar release system that increases flexibility by 10 percent over the old pickup.

As of this writing, Toyota has not announced pricing for the 2024 Tacoma, Trailhunter, or any other trim levels. It is expected that the first deliveries will take place in spring 2024 at the earliest. If we get more information, there is of course an update for this report. 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter:

The Trailhunter is an off-road pickup variant.
Recognizable by the bronze-colored radiator grille.
Available in eight trim levels, from the entry-level SR to the top-of-the-line TRD Pro.

Two-door XtraCab and four-door Double Cab body options (both variants have a longer loading area)
Engines: Standard turbocharged 2,4-liter four-cylinder developing 228 hp for the SR and 278 hp for the other trim levels + i-Force Max hybrid four-cylinder developing 326 hp.
Rear suspension is now multi-link.

Disc brakes all round.
Upgraded 2,5" shocks developed in collaboration with ARB.
Ground clearance at the front + 2 inches (approx. 5 cm) and at the rear + 1,5 inches (approx. 4 cm).

Trailhunter Rock Rails and multiple steel skidplates for underbody protection.
Exhaust installed as a special high-lying version.
Integrated 2.400 watt inverter and sockets in the cabin and in the cargo area for 12 volt and USB connections.

Cargo hold with air compressor.
Toyota ARB truck bed assembly for installing accessories such as showers or rooftop tents.
Front grille with integrated 20" LED bar, including Rigid LED fog lights.

Rear with integrated lights that illuminate the cargo area.
