After a long line of pre-announcements, Toyota has finally unveiled the latest model of its Tacoma pickup for 2024. The new model is launched with many equipment options. Also included is a brand new model called trail hunters, which is specially designed for outdoor adventures. A special highlight for us is the Iso Dynamic Performance seat technology of the TRD Pro model. They kind of look like they've come straight out of a sci-fi movie and are inspired by the Baja racing series and come standard on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. They are equipped with two vertical and two horizontal shock absorbers (with locking function) reminiscent of a bicycle suspension. A suspension in the seats, things are there!

Although one might think that shock absorbers in the seats are more of a playful idea, the concept is not entirely new. However, it represents a first for a vehicle of this type, as they are typically only seen on professional Baja off-road vehicles. The Japanese manufacturer explained that the four shock absorbers work together to ensure that the rider's head, neck and spine remain in a straight line and are relieved when driving on uneven surfaces. Considering the pickup is designed for off-road use and comes standard with a 2-inch lift, forged upper suspension arms and an ARB steel bumper, many will likely take it off-road as well.

Looking at the specs, Toyota's newer comes with a 2,4-liter i4 turbocharged engine that delivers an impressive 278 hp, coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Those who opt for the more expensive TRD Pro or Trail Hunter models will get the i-Force MAX Hybrid, which at 326 horsepower beats the previous generation V6 (and many current midsize pickups). However, it also remains a 2,4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.

The TRD Pro also features heated and air-conditioned seats, a 14-inch infotainment display, multi-link rear suspension, 33-inch tires and a striking new design. Unfortunately, Toyota has not yet provided any information on consumption or prices. However, the normal models should be available towards the end of 2023. The more specialized variants like the TRD Pro, Trail Hunter and i-Force MAX powered models are expected to hit dealerships in early 2024.
