This 1991 VW Golf II GTI is indeed a electric conversion! The classic, which was built from 1983 to 1992, has been sold over 6,3 million times and is currently firmly established in the classic tuning scene. The compact dimensions of around four meters and a weight of between 845 and 1.165 kg enable respectable acceleration values even today. And that applies in particular to this converted Golf II GTI from 1991. As a model with a catalytic converter, it was 82 kW / 109 hp and without a catalytic converter it was even 129 hp. And this GTI has now become the electric golf rebuilt. And with one or the other Tesla component. Specifically installed is a rear engine a Model S or Model X, with an output of about 270 PS. However, the engineers at eDub had to rotate the Tesla motor 180°, which was the only way it could be installed. In principle, the motor now runs backwards.

A special one was installed for this purpose Oil Cooling as well as one of your own battery technology, Are installed 24 CALB 3P4S battery modules in Wolfsburg. Twelve at the front above the engine and 12 at the rear. The modules filled with pouch cells deliver a voltage of 16 volts and have a capacity of around 2,2 kWh. The total capacity is 54 kWh, of which around 48 kWh are usable. The e-classic is charged with AC and 6,6 kW as well as DC and around 70 kW. And while the "prototype" still has a CHAdeMO connector, future modifications should be equipped with CCS2 connectors.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Unfortunately, the PS information in the report is not correct.
The Golf 2 GTI has 112 hp without a cat and only 107 hp with a cat. Your specification of 129 hp probably refers to the Golf 2 GTI 16V (engine type PL with cat = 129 hp; engine type KR without cat = 139 hp).
Sincerely,
Kai Schneider
