It's hard to believe that the VW Amarok has been on the market for 10 years! Although you can see his age slowly but surely, on the other hand, the pickup vehicle segment is not necessarily shaped by the latest design or the ultimate technical inventions. A pickup should primarily be able to “WORK” and the Amarok can definitely do that! Especially when the 3-liter V6 is installed under the hood. And that's exactly what the Australian tuner has now Walkinshaw performance pre-buttoned. Not just the engine, but the complete Amarok. And even officially in cooperation with Volkswagen. Curtain up for the "W580 special edition", which was named after the Australian tuning company. The name reflects the torque that the V6 diesel sends thanks to modifications to the wheels. That should be exactly 580 Newton meters. However, this only corresponds to the key data such as the V6 Amarok has been available in Germany since 2018.
258 PS and 580 Nm torque
Here the VW EA897 evo-V8 delivers 258 HP and 580 Nm torque anyway. The rest of the changes, however, are more evident. Walkinshaw, for example, modified the front axle with new springs, increasing the ground clearance by 40 millimeters. To do this, Pirelli Scorpion 275/50 R20 tires are installed all around in combination with 20 × 9 inch Clayton aluminum rims in black. They also contribute significantly to the stately appearance. And they are covered by special wheel arch extensions for a typical widebody look. Walkinshaw also installs a sports exhaust system with black tailpipes on the right and left that exit at an angle behind the rear wheels. In addition, they have installed a modified radiator grille and, moreover, the W580 special edition is only available with bi-xenon headlights, LED fog lights and a sports bar painted in body color on the loading area.

The changes also include an individually numbered badge with a consecutive number in the interior. Further details are a foiling on the bonnet and in the area of the lower doors, there is an emblem of the tuner on the tailgate and we find the attached bonnet protection including the Amarok lettering quite successful. Walkinshaw's Amarok W580 will go on sale on December 1st. The official prices will also be announced at this time.
