Caddy in focus: the new VW Caddy (V) PanAmericana!

 "PanAmericana" - the route from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego makes globetrotters and those who want to become one dream of automotive wanderlust and freedom worldwide: The new Caddy PanAmericana from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, which is now available, includes off-road-like paneling on the wheel arches and side sills as well the black additional strips on the doors of the city delivery van and family van add to its most eye-catching exterior design elements. Only those who set themselves extraordinary goals will always discover new things. The new Caddy PanAmericana is the ideal companion for this. And in the fifth generation of the Caddy, it is finally expanding the PanAmericana series at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles into a model family. Because it now complements the well-known Transporter 6.1 PanAmericana.

The grained bumpers, front and rear with underride protection, leave no room for doubt: With the Caddy PanAmericana there is always something new to discover - sometimes even in light terrain - away from the asphalt. The model can be ordered and available with immediate effect - exclusively for the short wheelbases of the Caddy Cargo and the car variant based on the Caddy Life.

A total of up to 19 driver assistance systems (ADAS) available in the Caddy make excursions into easy terrain a safe pleasure. Standard LED lights at the front and rear as well as glazed 17-inch alloy wheels add to the tough and "rough" charm of the new Caddy PanAmericana. Applications such as the silver-colored inserts in the side door strips refine its appearance in such a way that the Caddy PanAmericana also cuts a good figure on the street or in front of the café.

Based on the 'Life' car equipment line or the 'Cargo' urban delivery van variant, it already offers everything that recreational athletes, craftsmen and individualists appreciate: a sporty, striking off-road look thanks to robust body covers. The silver-colored design underride protection, front and rear, the clasp in the vehicle color in the radiator grille, straightforward without chrome, and a silver-colored roof railing cleverly support the impression. The Caddy plays with the indications of a thirst for adventure: the “PanAmericana” lettering appears in the extension of the sliding door rail and on the available rear wing doors or on the tailgate and on the radiator grille of the Caddy and Caddy Cargo. The Caddy lettering on the rear is omitted. The PanAmericana becomes an independent member of the new Caddy family in terms of appearance and appearance.

Highlights in the interior of the passenger car model based on the Caddy 'Life' include the new “Pinestripe” seat covers, the standard small leather package for the multifunction leather steering wheel, shift gaiter, aluminum-look pedals and footrest, door trim with inserts and center console similar to the higher Caddy -Equipment 'Style', front door sills, silver with lettering, the steering wheel with steering wheel clasp, the PanAmericana lettering and floor mats as standard - front and rear.

The new Caddy PanAmericana is only available with a short wheelbase as a passenger car or cargo, optionally with an 84 kW TSI petrol engine or TDI turbo diesel with 75 or 90 kW output, depending on the engine, then purely front-wheel drive with 6-speed manual or 7-speed -DSG automatic transmission as well as 4MOTION all-wheel drive with the 6-speed manual transmission.

All engines have economical Blue Motion Technology as standard and consume between 4,5 liters (TDI) and 5,7 liters / 100 km (TSI), which corresponds to CO₂-Emissions between 119 to 133 grams / km (combined). All engines comply with the latest Euro 6d-ISC-FCM emissions standard. Depending on the drive, the Caddy PanAmericana has a trailer load of up to 1,5 tons and can load up to 679 kilograms as cargo and up to 525 kilograms as a car, depending on the equipment (permissible roof load: 100 kg, vertical load up to 75 kg).

Travel Assist, Trailer Assist & Co.

The Caddy PanAmericana is available in the color finishes 'Candy White' or 'Deep Black Pearl Effect', or in metallic finishes such as 'Reflex Silver', 'Starlight Blue' or 'Copper Bronze'. With the MQB (modular transverse matrix) of the latest development stage, numerous new technologies are finding their way into the entire Caddy series from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: Innovative assistance systems such as 'Travel Assist' or 'Trailer Assist' and the new turning assistant as part of 'Front Assist' 'as well as lane change and exit assistants increase safety and comfort in the new Caddy. Five of the up to 19 possible assistance systems are completely new in the Caddy, including the PanAmericana, the rest has been completely overhauled.

The fifth Caddy generation of the bestseller, which was built over three million times in the previous generations alone, offers numerous real user highlights as an off-road PanAmericana model, and not just in terms of driver assistance systems. However, these offer significantly more safety and comfort and support the driver - actively and passively. The new Caddy as an all-rounder from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles relies on numerous other new technologies - and not just as the Caddy PanAmericana. They make the Caddy even more practical, efficient and confident.
