20 years ago, Volkswagen ventured into a new segment with the stylish Touareg. Since then, the company's premium SUV has established itself in the markets and developed into a successful model. To date, more than a million units have been sold - an impressive number in the C segment of SUVs. Modern optional features such as Travel Assist and the Innovision Cockpit with 15-inch infotainment display (standard on the Touareg "EDITION 20") ensure more comfort and the best possible connectivity. Technologically sophisticated chassis innovations such as the optional air suspension and roll compensation increase dynamics and make the Touareg much more manageable than its size would suggest.

Exterior with exclusive visual accents.

The special features of the new special model include the completely new paint finish in "Meloe Blue" and the highly polished 20-inch "Bogota" wheels, which are only available for the anniversary model. The expressive exterior design is complemented by tinted side and rear windows, LED taillights tinted in cherry red and an "EDITION 20" badge on the B-pillar. The wheel arches and diffuser are also painted in glossy black.

The exclusivity of the Touareg "EDITION 20" is also continued in the ultra-modern interior: when entering, the driver and passengers are greeted by illuminated door sills with the "EDITION 20" lettering. High-quality black leather seats (“Savona” type) with distinctive diamond quilting and seams in the contrasting color “Ceramique”, a light beige, emphasize the particularly stylish overall impression. The sporty character is emphasized by red accents: perfectly coordinated double seams in "Ceramique/Red" can be found on the dashboard, the steering wheel and the insides of the doors. The leather-covered automatic selector lever also bears the "EDITION 20" lettering.

Four engine variants with superior performance.

The new Volkswagen Touareg "EDITION 20" is available with four drive variants:

• 170 kW (231 PS) 3.0 V6 TDI with 500 Nm torque
• 210 kW (286 PS) 3.0 V6 TDI with 600 Nm torque
• 250 kW (340 PS) 3.0 V6 TSI with 450 Nm of torque
• Plug-in hybrid V6 TSI with 280 kW (381 hp) system output and 600 Nm torque

All four engines transmit their power to an eight-speed gearbox with all-wheel drive. This makes it possible to tow braked trailers weighing up to 3,5 tons.

Technology leader and record holder for 20 years.

When it was introduced in 2002, the Touareg surprised everyone with a 5,0 liter V10 TDI engine and a torque of 750 Nm, which was impressive at the time. The "Race Touareg" fielded by Volkswagen Motorsport dominated the "Dakar Rally" for three years in a row from 2009 to 2011. Various long-distance world records such as B. followed on the Panamericana with up to 23.000 kilometers covered in just under twelve days. In 2006, the Touareg pulled a 155-ton Boeing 747 out of the hangar, securing another world record.

In 2005, the Touareg "Stanley", one of the first truly intelligent vehicles in automotive history, won the "Grand Challenge" of the American DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) for autonomous vehicles in California, in which only four out of 23 vehicles crossed the finish line came.
