If we look so through the tuning area you will find more and more foiled cars, of course, there are also the classic all-round paint, but the foiling has caught up as an alternative significantly. We found a video that shows you the transformation of a Golf 2 in just under 4 minutes. We'll tell you below the advantages and disadvantages of foiling over the paintwork of the car.
Advantages of foliation:
- Duration: Usually 1 day, possibly 2! (Painting takes longer if the workshop is not pushing 24h layers)
- Costs: EUR 1.000 to EUR 1.800 (painting EUR 2000 to EUR 3.000 and more)
- New cars are cheaper than used to foil
- much more individual designs feasible, on request you can, for example. apply the daily paper to his car, almost everything is possible
- Foil can be completely removed at any time
- the original paint is protected by the film
Disadvantages of foliation:
- In the case of older vehicles, damaged - rusting areas must also be treated before painting in order to achieve a decent result
- brake dust, dirt, Tar stains, resin, scratches, stone chips must be completely removed, no advantage over painting
- the risk of damaging the original paint when applying the film is given, therefore, necessarily seek professionals
The points we mentioned are not really "disadvantages" compared to painting, they only indicate that the same work steps can sometimes occur as when the car is painted.
