Video: Digital number plates soon in the US

Already this year, there will be a permission in California to use digital license plates and later probably also everywhere in the USA. Reviver Auto has released a video demonstrating this system and basically it is nothing more than a well protected LCD screen showing the license plate. In the video you can already see that you can realize almost any representations you want with this display. And with a high probability, every halfway cunning hacker can probably manipulate this system.

LCD display as license plate

We believe that the biggest advantage probably lies in the fact that it is supposed to soon be possible to allow a vehicle completely online and then get the new license plate on the data path. Paperwork and authorities would then probably be omitted. Other conceivable functions are the presentation of any paid parking time in a parking lot or also the option to notify that, for example, a vehicle is stolen. We are curious if the system will prevail and already we can say that in Germany this way of displaying the license plate is probably unthinkable for many years.
