75 Unimog models on the road for their 75th birthday in the Corso!

Gaggenau - 75 years of Unimog was celebrated this weekend in Gaggenau and the convoy was also 75 Unimog long, winding its way like a lindworm from the production plant in Wörth am Rhein through the city of Karlsruhe and over country roads to the home of the Unimog in Gaggenau in the Murg Valley. At the Gaggenau plant, the Unimog was produced as a Mercedes-Benz vehicle from 1951 - which is why 2021 is a double anniversary: 75 years of the Unimog, 70 of which have the Mercedes star on the hood, because the original cradle of the universal motorized device is in Schwäbisch Gmünd, where the first prototype crawled over meadows and hills in test drives as early as 1946.

Over 2000 visitors celebrate the 75th birthday of the Unimog in Gaggenau - 75 Unimog models on the road in the Corso

In Gaggenau, on the other hand, there is the Unimog Museum, where everything revolves around the Unimog - and that was particularly the case this weekend. The 75 vehicles of the "Unimog Corso" were on the area around the museum building and various lectures were offered for those interested in technology. The Corso participants were also invited to demonstrations at the Ötigheim test site - a small reward for the sometimes long journey that they had to cover with their "sweethearts". The anniversary weekend was organized by the Unimog Club Gaggenau, the Unimog Museum and Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks. Karin Rådström, member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG since February 2021, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, was one of the guests on site and took a look at the numerous historic Unimog vehicles.

About Thomas Wachsmuth

Thomas Wachsmuth - He has been an integral part of tuningblog.eu since 2013. His passion for cars is so intense that he invests every available penny in them. While he dreams of a BMW E31 850CSI and a Hennessey 6x6 Ford F-150, he currently drives a rather inconspicuous BMW 540i (G31/LCI). His collection of books, magazines and brochures on the subject of car tuning has now reached such proportions that he himself has become a walking reference work for the tuning scene.  More about Thomas
