The current generation of the Suzuki Jimny has been making the hearts of many off-road fans beat faster since it was presented in 2018. But in contrast to previous models of the cult off-roader, the tabloid effect is not neglected this time either. What was once a vehicle for clearing services, foresters and farmers has become a chic little SUV that is also very popular on the tuning scene. Many tuning companies offer conversion kits for the Jimny in order to get as close as possible to high-end SUVs like the G-Class. Such a Jimny, which is based on a Brabus G-Class, is currently available Al Ain Class Motors in Dubai for sale. It can be purchased for a mere AED 165.000 (about €43.500). It costs more than twice as much as the basic version, which is available in the United Arab Emirates from AED 73.000 (about €19.000).
What am I?
The front of the mini off-roader was modeled on the thick Brabus G-Class and causes quite a stir on the road. These include new LED headlights and headlight surrounds, a Panamericana grille with the Brabus logo, larger air intakes on the bumpers and a more powerful one Power Dome with fake air scoops on the hood. The unknown tuner also placed two LED diodes on the roof, which provide better visibility at night off-road.
New rims with black finish and solid Foot Rests made of stainless steel are also among the modifications. The transformation continues at the rear, as the tuner features a massive roof spoiler installed on the mini-SUV, installed new taillights in the G-Class style, and installed a Brabus lettering on the outside spare wheel. Even the typical ones fender flares a Brabus G-Class can be found on the Mini-Me.
It continues in the interior!
Almost the entire cockpit, including the seats, door panels and steering wheel, is upholstered in light blue leather. And where no leather dominates, you will find light blue Alcantara. Thus, even the Jimny looks decadent and exudes a certain Dubai charm. A 1,5 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine drives the off-roader! The difference to the original Brabus only becomes clear when it comes to the drive. No V8 biturbo, but a weak-breasted 1,5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, with only 103 PS & 135 Newton meters of maximum torque, does its job. Unfortunately, we have no information on the exact driving performance, but the power transmission takes place via a four-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The four-wheel drive is traditionally switchable and a reduction gear is also on board.
Our conclusion:
- More appearance than reality is not possible. This vehicle is great on the outside and unfortunately a flop under the hood. With a Engine swap the project would be unique and a dream of every SUV fan. If we get more information, there is of course an update for this report.
