The Italian sports car brand with the Cavallino Rampante has always fascinated car fans of all ages. Regardless of whether in Formula 1 or on the road, the sports cars of the noble smithy, which was founded by Enzo Ferrari, have a very special fascination that founded the Ferrari myth and keep it alive to this day. Not only the legends like a Ferrari 250 GTO from the 1960s, but also the somewhat less known but no less rare models have a very special fascination for all car lovers, and not just in Europe, but worldwide.
275 GTB from 1965
A less well-known model, which has the same fascinating and passionate lines as all Ferrari models, is the 275 GTB from 1965 with the chassis and engine number 07085. Now a very special example of this series is for sale at girardo.com, namely a 275 GTB 6C, of which only a handful of vehicles were built, and which differs from the normal 275 GTB by a Weber 40 DCN six-fold carburetor from its "normal" brothers, which had to make do with a triple carburetor. Only selected favorite Enzo Ferrari customers could enjoy this engine with six carburetors, as it was specially designed as a racing engine and it is estimated that it was only installed 60 times in different Ferrari models, so that the ordinary Ferrari driver with the triple carburetor had to be happy with the triple carburetor ordered a model that had the legendary Colombo V12 with a displacement of 3,3 liters.
The lines make the 275 GTB 6C a designer piece
Like all Ferrari models from this period, the 275 GTB also has round headlights and a very stretched and elegant-looking silhouette, which in this case results in a very American-looking fastback. Certain similarities with pony cars made in the United States, which were created at the same time, cannot be dismissed, especially not in the side and rear area. Nevertheless, this perfectly maintained specimen, which was lovingly restored by Autofficina Sauro and Egidio Brandoli in the 1980s, is an absolute dream car that makes the hearts of all classic car fans beat faster. Brandoli has also worked for the legendary Scaglietti body shop and is still one of the best restorers of classic Ferrari models.
Driving performance would still be sufficient today.
The legendary 3,3-liter Colombo V12 develops 320 hp and accelerates the Coupé, which weighs just 1300 kg, from 6 to 0 km / h in a remarkable 100 seconds and the power is transmitted via a 5-speed manual transmission in a transaxle design. It was also the first production model from the Italian sports car manufacturer to have this type of construction, with the engine in the front and the gearbox on the rear axle. Unfortunately, there is no information on the maximum speed, but it should be around 240 - 260 km / h if you look at the performance data. For the conditions at the time, the 275 GTB 6C has a breathtaking power-to-weight ratio of just 4,07 kg / hp. So you can still annoy various vehicles with this automotive gem, even if you shouldn't do that due to the inestimable ideal value of the 275 GTB.
