The former luxury brand Maybach, which was "only" demoted to an equipment line of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, is extremely popular with the rich and beautiful. And the fact that there are no longer any independent models from the Maybach manufactory doesn't seem to bother most of these customers. Of course, tuning also plays a major role in these circles, because after all, you don't want a Maybach."off the shelf“ drive, but show what you have. The tuning company Carlex has therefore the current Mercedes- Maybach UPS pre-buttoned and modified it in a conspicuous way. We would like to introduce this vehicle to you.
Mint green dominates the Maybach!
The first thing that catches the eye is the Maybach-typical two-tone paintwork, which in this case combines a black upper part of the car with a mint green lower part of the body combined. Gold accents, which have a slight bronze-colored touch, on the rims, radiator grille and various trim parts also enhance the look.
There are also Carlex emblems on the front fenders, which make it clear that this Maybach is not in series production. For more brutality in terms of looks, 23-inch rims were chosen, which, as mentioned above, also boast a golden finish. What is surprising is the fact that one is opposed to a bodykit, as well as against the dismantling of Roof rails decided. Carlex thus puts utility above ostentation and, apart from the eccentric paintwork, the GLS is “actually” kept understated.
Extraordinary interior in green!
After getting in, you dive into a complete green Symphony. Leather seats with a snakeskin look and diamond quilting as well as an almost completely green cockpit including a green and black steering wheel make for an almost unreal-looking cockpit landscape. Only the upper part of the dashboard and the gate of the automatic selector lever were kept in black. As for the dashboard, we're pretty sure it's black only so it doesn't reflect off the windscreen. Otherwise you would certainly have overdone it with the color mint!
A 4-liter V8 biturbo petrol engine acts as the drive!
The propulsion of the luxury SUV is ensured by a large-volume eight-seater with double turbocharging, which generates 550 hp and a strong 730 Newton meters of maximum torque. There is also a KERS system (EQ Boost) on board, which can release an additional 21 hp and a massive 250 Newton meters of maximum torque for a certain period of time. According to Mercedes-Benz, the 2,7-ton monster is able to sprint from 4,8 to 0 km/h in just 100 seconds. However, the top speed is electronically limited to a relatively meager 209 kilometers per hour.
Our conclusion:
- The dignified exterior is not intended for the glittering worlds of Dubai or Hollywood, but the interior is. As subtle as it looks on the outside, we think it's exaggerated in the cockpit. We also find it a pity that the vehicle was only electronically limited to a maximum of 209 kilometers per hour. Carlex or another tuner could lend a hand again. If we get more information, there is of course an update for this report. You will be informed about this if you simply use our Feed subscribe to. Have fun watching the pictures and stay true to us!
