New generation of infotainment makes its debut in the Subaru Outback

With the new Subaru Outback (consumption combined: 7,4 l / 100 km; CO2-Emissions combined: 169 g / km; Values were determined in accordance with the WLTP test procedure and correlated in NEDC values) the Japanese automobile manufacturer is presenting a new generation of infotainment: Extended functions are available on a touchscreen of up to 11,6 inches. As a result, the big crossover is more networked than ever before.

New generation of infotainment

Subaru largely dispenses with buttons and buttons in the interior. The touchscreen, which can be operated like a tablet, acts instead as a central control element for all important functions - from infotainment to the Eyesight assistance systems and the navigation, which is reserved for the higher equipment lines, to air conditioning and the heated front seats. Temperature, ventilation strength and the three levels of seat heating can be set at the touch of a finger. In addition to digital radio DAB +, the integrated audio system includes smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; the top equipment includes a premium system from Harman / Kardon with CD player and ten speakers including a subwoofer.

For safe and intuitive control, Subaru makes use of the tile-shaped surface known from smartphones. While a status bar and the current playback are displayed at the top of the screen, the various apps or the map view of the navigation system can be found below, depending on the mode. The foundation is the air conditioning. The so-called shortcuts that lead to telephony, navigation and the various apps can be adjusted and moved as required. Anyone who creates an individual profile in the system for frequently changing drivers always has the desired setting at the start - from the radio station to the connected smartphone to the interface and improved voice recognition, with which the audio system and air conditioning can be controlled by voice command. The seats and exterior mirrors also move automatically into position depending on the equipment.

The touchscreen is also networked with the digital instrument display behind the steering wheel. This creates a large vertical display that provides all the important information - thus maximizing usability and visibility. Outback drivers can fully concentrate on the road.
