Toyota is known to be the largest and highest-selling automobile manufacturer in the world. In addition to the Corolla, less well-known models in this country also help the Japanese auto giant to sell more than 10 million cars a year. A very good example of a successful model that does not play a role in Europe is the Toyota Etios Hatch, which was designed for emerging countries in Asia and South America and is extremely popular there too.
The design is very simple.
When it comes to design, the Toyota designers seem to have lost courage, because the 2020 version of the Etios Hatch has been only very subtly revised, and the basic concept is more than 8 years old. From the front, he looks a lot like Daihatsu, although he looks very grim for a small car in the low-budget class. Toyota would like to suggest a little sportiness to attract young and young-at-heart buyers. From the side, the small car is somewhat reminiscent of an older generation of the Nissan Micra, while tinted taillights are used at the rear, which could also come from an ATU catalog. It also looks a bit like Suzuki Swift from the rear, but overall the design for a low-budget car is perfectly fine, although you can be sure that a possible next generation of this car will look completely different, if you consider the current design line from Toyota.
Lively engine meets little weight.
The top model of the current Toyota Etios Hatch is powered by a 1,5-liter gasoline engine with four cylinders and a maximum output of 107 hp. In addition, the maximum torque is 147 Newton meters, which is outstanding for this class. With the 1000 kg of the Etio, the engine has little trouble and the power-to-weight ratio is an excellent 9,6 kg / PS. Equipped in this way, the Dacia competitor sprints to a highway speed of 10 in just over 100 seconds and propulsion only ends at a brisk 187 km / h. So you can have a lot of fun with the little Japanese and surprise some road users on the highway.
The equipment is rather simple.
Especially when it comes to the equipment and interior design, you notice that Toyota has designed a low-budget car, because despite the standard ESP with traction control and a tire pressure control system, only two airbags are on board. When it comes to comfort, a manual air conditioning system is standard, but automatic climate control is not available. The navigation system and rear parking sensors are available as accessories at an additional cost.
That could be dangerous for Dacia in Europe.
If Toyota decides to offer the 3.88m long, 1,70m wide and 1,51m high Etios Hatch in Europe, it could be dangerous for the Dacia Sandero, because Toyota has a very good reputation for reliability and durability, which is what you get absolutely cannot claim from Dacia. In addition, the car, which costs the equivalent of 12.000 euros in Latin America, is very well motorized and would also be ideal in Europe as a car for young people who want to be mobile at low cost and who appreciate the advantages of a new car.
