Growth for the Toyota GR Supra: The fifth generation of the sports car will be available in a new entry-level engine in the future. The 2,0-liter turbo gasoline engine (B48B20) produces 190 kW / 258 hp and will be launched worldwide from March 2020. (Combined fuel consumption: 6,3 l / 100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 143 g / km). In addition to the 3,0-liter inline six-cylinder (combined fuel consumption: 7,5 l / 100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 170 g / km), with which the sports car legend celebrated a triumphant return to the international automotive markets last year the new four-cylinder turbo makes the GR Supra attractive to a larger group of customers. Extremely dynamic driving performance is also guaranteed in the new engine variant: the petrol engine equipped with direct injection and twin-scroll turbocharger sends a maximum torque of 400 Nm towards the rear wheels and accelerates the GR Supra from zero to 5,2 km / h in 100 seconds. At 250 km / h, propulsion is electronically limited. The CO2 emissions amount to 143 g / km (correlated NEDC values).

Lighter and sharper

In terms of longitudinal acceleration, the new entry-level engine, which is also coupled to an ZF eight-speed automatic, does not have to hide behind the top engine with six cylinders, three liters of displacement and 250 kW / 340 hp. (Combined fuel consumption: 7,5 l / 100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 170 g / km) On the contrary: The lighter and more compact four-cylinder even improves the inertia properties and the chassis balance and thus enables even more precise handling. The GR Supra weighs 100 kilograms less in the new basic version than in the 3,0 liter version (combined fuel consumption: 7,5 l / 100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 170 g / km), and because Due to its compact design, the engine moved closer to the center of the vehicle, ensuring an ideal weight distribution of 50:50 between the front and rear axles. This contributes to the vehicle's responsiveness, agility and confidence-inspiring handling properties. The "golden ratio" for optimal handling, the ideal ratio between wheelbase and track width, is also retained: it is 1,55 for all GR Supra models.

Sports seats with black Alcantara cover, an audio system with an 8,8-inch screen and 18-inch alloy wheels are already included in the basic equipment. The Safety Sense safety systems include a front collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, a lane departure warning system with active steering support, a traffic sign recognition and an intelligent speed assistant. In addition, the GR Supra 2.0 (combined fuel consumption: 6,3 l / 100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 143 g / km) can be further customized with a number of packages. A Connect package with navigation and connectivity system, a sport package with active limited slip differential, adaptive chassis and high-performance brakes as well as a premium package with JBL Premium Sound System, head-up display, wireless charging function for smartphones, black leather interior and electric Seat adjustment with memory function.

Fuji Speedway Edition in Gazoo Racing colors

At the start, Toyota is also launching a limited Fuji Speedway Edition in the colors of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team. The exclusive special edition, which is limited to 200 units in Europe, attracts attention with its white metallic paint, contrasting matt black 19-inch wheels and red exterior mirror caps. Inside there are carbon fiber inlays in the dashboard and red and black Alcantara covers. Added to this are the scope of the Connect and Sport packages. The new engine variant comes onto the market about a year after the start of the new model generation. The production version of the GR Supra was unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in early 2019; After ordering started in March, the first vehicles rolled to customers in the summer. Since then, the vehicle has been available regularly from any Toyota dealer in Germany. But it's not just the sales figures that make the return of the sports car legend a complete success after 17 years: the experts are also enthusiastic. In autumn, the GR Supra was awarded the “Golden Steering Wheel” for being the best new sports car, one of the most prestigious automobile awards in Europe. The award is presented by the "Bild am Sonntag" and the "Auto Bild".
