Wiesmann is back: Project Thunderball as a new sports car!

There was really a lot of information on the part of the Wiesmann Sports Cars GmbH not from Dülmen lately. One was announced in 2019 Wiesmann with BMW M5 engine as "Project Gecko" (inspired by GT MF5) for 2020, almost to revive the brand, but the corona pandemic caused problems with the schedule. So the development work was clearly postponed. But in 2019 there was apparently not only the project Gecko, but also an unknown project with a name Thunderball. And both seem to be making headway. Because the world premiere is imminent. Project Gecko seems to be a closed coupe and the Thunderball will probably come as a two-seater roadster. However, very few details about the new vehicles are known so far. However, it seems partly clear that there will continue to be a collaboration with BMW and the aforementioned V8 biturbo engine from the current BMW M5 could be used as a drive and on rear-wheel drive be adapted. At least in the gecko!

But that is not entirely clear, because the Wiesmann statement "refreshed, reborn and Reloaded“ could also indicate that an electrified powertrain will be installed, i.e. without a BMW combustion engine. Or maybe with the e-technology from the XM? We do not know it! The recently published prototype images of the vehicle with a retractable top and a black and white sample color also show a bold Bremsanlage and the aforementioned silhouette of the roadster with the typical look of the earlier Wiesmann models. The long fenders get big ones Air outlets and at the rear sits one between the four round rear lights spoiler, which is integrated directly into the body. In addition, there should probably be an automatic (also from BMW) and a 50:50 weight distribution this includes. Hopefully more details and pictures will follow as soon as possible.
