At the end of the season MotoGP in Valencia will be on 12. November 2017 not only the new World Champion but also the BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car for the upcoming season. For almost 20 years, BMW is in league with MotoGP organizer Dorna and this is particularly evident in the provision of the corresponding support vehicles. 2018 will be the brand new BMW M5 F90 that will be launched as the MotoGP Safety Car.
The key data read already spectacular in the production vehicle because the M5 brings four-wheel drive, a 4,4 liter V8 engine with twin-turbo, 441 kW / 600 PS and 750 Nm and a perfect look with. But especially for the Safety Car variant, the engine has now been significantly revised again and may already give an outlook on a special model that was once considered. Although we have no new data known, but that more than 600 PS raging in Munich should be clear.
In addition, there was a modified 8 gear Steptronic gearbox, a roof made of lightweight, carbon fiber reinforced plastic as well as a lot of racing features and of course the necessary safety features. The front splitter has been specially developed for the safety car and the bonnet seals are rooted in racing.
Inside there are sporty bucket seats from the BMW M4 GTS and the flat light bar on the roof has the most modern LED technology currently available. To control the whole there is a specially developed panel in the cockpit over which also the blue LED lights existing front lights can be controlled and the flashing Corona rings in the headlights. By the way, visually it was based on the new race car BMW M8 GTE, which BMW will be representing next year, among others, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
