Formula 1 - The reasons of dominance of the Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid

The dominance of Mercedes in Formula 1 is not just a recent phenomenon. For several seasons, the only question in Formula 1 seems to be which of the two Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg claimed the world title. Both drivers are undoubtedly great talents in racing, but the dominance of the Mercedes racing team is certainly not only due to the skills of these two drivers on the racetrack.

Many voices give the Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid as the real reason for the superiority of this automaker on the racetrack. This engine is undoubtedly the best engine since the introduction of hybrid engines in Formula 1. The exact technical properties are of course a Mercedes trade secret. One of the keys to the high efficiency of the engine is said to be the use of prechamber ignition. This technical peculiarity creates a very high-energy explosion that enables the gasoline mixture to ignite optimally. Of course, this is not the only factor that can be used to justify the superiority of the engine. Rather, it can be assumed that there are numerous small technical revolutions under the hood of Formula 1 racing cars.

According to the engine manager from Mercedes, the energy efficiency of the engine should reach a value of over 45%. The conventionally used naturally aspirated engines could reach values below 30% in the past years. In terms of energy efficiency, this is again a huge increase compared to the engine of the previous year.

In the meantime there are critical voices criticizing the boredom in Formula 1 because of this superior engine. The only tension that still arises is the question of whether Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg will win. This is also the case this season, when it has been certain for at least three races that the question of who will hold the world title at the end of the season will be answered by one of these two drivers. The winner of the world title should be determined on November 27.11.2016, XNUMX in Abu Dhabi. The tension is undoubtedly high within the team, although it has long been clear which racing team will claim the world championship title.

It is therefore clear that the other racing teams will have to come up with something in the coming years to keep up with the technical progress of the Mercedes team and thus build competitive Formula 1 cars in the future. This is the only way to make Formula 1 more exciting at team level in the coming seasons.
