Check the brakes!

Test the braking function while stationary by braking to the left and pushing the wheel. A rear wheel that lifts off the ground indicates that the brakes are still adjusted strong enough. Now repeat the process with the right brake. Ideally, the rear wheel blocks. However, none of the brake levers should be able to be depressed right down to the handlebars. Keep a distance of at least two centimeters. With the knurled screws on the levers you can easily readjust the distance manually. If these are already at their limit, it is time to change the brake pads. It is important that no squeaking noises are noticeable when driving.

Check the functionality of the bell, light and Co.!

Don't forget to test the cable and plug connections as well, as these will quickly become loose and result in the light no longer working properly. If the lighting system on pedelecs is controlled by the on-board computer, you should do a check-up before your first ride and also include the reflectors. You should attach two yellow ones to each pedal, while there should be a white one on the front wheel and a red one on the back and wheels. In order to prepare for a larger tour or for traffic, it is advisable to do a small test lap. You will also notice whether the tires are sufficiently inflated so that you do not get flat tires. If not, then inflate according to the manufacturer's instructions.
