What goes with a "right Restomod" to? A clean one, of course engine Swap. But that often turns out to be the ultimate challenge. As a rule, plug-and-play doesn't work at all. However, the more modern engine in this gorgeous Bmw cs from the 70s successfully built-in. And like every restomod, this vehicle didn't start its life in the state it is in now. But this time the conversion is particularly extreme. Because up until six years ago, the vehicle was just the body of an E9 from 1974. In a way, it was just the bare metal shell. There were also a few boxes with add-on parts, the drive train and everything else that belonged to the coupe. But the owner Anthony has put his vision into practice and created a unique classic that he calls a vehicle in the "Outlaw style" designated. lacquered is the unique in the shrill Inca orange and all around there was a fat Group 2 body kit, which massively widens the side walls and the front fenders of the coupé. The extent of the extensions is easy to see when looking at the side skirts, which continue “normally” from the door and hide under the side walls.

The original body line along the side has been retained, but even the layman can tell that this is not a production vehicle. In the course of construction, you also have the one that runs in the area of the belt line Chrome trim as well as the Sprouting removed in the fenders. And instead of using rivets or other ugly methods to attach the new aerodynamic parts, the entire kit is seamless integrated into the factory body.

This was implemented impressively, especially at the rear. The complete rear part is, so to speak, a large component in which the tail lights are neatly integrated. In addition, the tailgate is still with a Ducktail spoiler lip stocked. As a counterpart to the lip on the tailgate, there was a low-hanging one in front front apron with two central circular air intakes. And then there would be the send Rims. Original BBS wheels in the format 17×9 and 17×11 inches are installed, which were specially made for this vehicle with a magnesium star and Continental Tubes carry.

successful S54 engine swap

If you swivel the bonnet forward, then the star of the show appears. A S54 six-cylinder from the BMW E46 M3. A naturally aspirated with cast iron block, aluminum head and a liter output of 100 hp per liter, extending over electronically controlled open individual throttle valves delighted. In order for the engine to fit into the engine compartment, countless components had to be specially manufactured. And that includes the modern ones Suspension components around the Ground Control coilover kit, made from parts from the E30/36 and even a rear one subframe consist of an E28 of the 5 series. Everything had to be meticulously coordinated in order to actually work. And that goes for them too shock towers, which are also specially made. Apart from Alpha N Tune, an individual Fuel injection with rebuilt OEM tank and the complete Stainless steel exhaust system the engine is stock and generated about 350 PS.

Incidentally, the special copy is slowed down by means of Bremsanlage from the E36 M3 in front and from the E28 M5 in the back. And also the Cabin is radically different. There is save audio components and save Carbon fiber components. The cockpit is instead purposeful and unlettered Switch panel of the ZF 5-speed manual transmissionthat with a M3 clutch was combined, probably only the owner knows. Almost everything in the interior is typically 70s, right down to the Momo Prototipo steering wheel, which looks like it came straight out of a race car from a bygone era. And finally ... The Restomod Outlaw is a piece of rolling history with cleverly installed components from the present. If we get more information about the changes, there is of course an update for this report.
