Bentley is celebrating the W12 engine, which has powered both the powerful flagship models and the overall success of the Bentley brand since 2003, with the limited edition Speed edition 12. The Speed Edition 12 vehicles are powered by the successful twelve-cylinder and form a fitting conclusion to the extraordinary technical achievement. The Edition 12 is based on the Speed version of the Bentayga, Flying Spur, Continental GT and Continental GT Convertible models and features numerous unique details such as Emblems and embroidery with Edition 12 motifs, a numbered engine plate and multicolored contrasting stitching. In addition, the instrument panel in Grand Black design has an engraved engine firing order and embedded Edition 12 emblems.
Bentley Speed Edition 12
Only 120 of each of the four edition models will be produced, making the Speed Edition 12 an exquisite and coveted tribute to an engine that has shaped Bentley vehicles and success for two decades. The W12 ushered in a new era for the company in 2003, powering the first new model under the Volkswagen Group. The unique W construction of the 6,0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 is 24 percent shorter than comparable V12 engines without compromising performance, efficiency and quality.
Continuous further development has resulted in an increase in output of 37 percent and an increase in torque of 54 percent - with emissions reduced by 25 percent at the same time. In the Speed Edition 12 models, the W12 delivers a whopping 659 hp at 5.000-6.000 rpm, while the maximum torque of 900 Nm is reached at just 1.500 rpm and lasts up to 5.000 rpm. The understated look of the Speed Edition 12 has been carefully chosen and includes details such as silver brake calipers.
Speed Edition 12 badge on fender
The Continental GT and Cabriolet models carry a Speed Edition 12 badging on the front fender, while the Bentayga and Flying Spur cars have the badge along with the previous Speed badging on the rear section. A numbered Edition 12 plaque also adorns the engine cover. Additional exterior looks include gloss Blackline Specification moldings, black painted 22" Speed wheels and self-aligning wheel emblems. The new Opalite paint color is optionally available, a light gray-green with a subtle copper shimmer.
Firing order of the W12 engine in the passenger seat area
The handcrafted interior of the Edition 12 welcomes the driver and passengers with a welcome light and illuminated door sills. The vehicles are available in the Bentley Speed color combinations; Beluga Black can be chosen as the sole color for the leather upholstery or combined with Brunel Blue, Cricketball Red, Linen or Orange. The veneer is finished throughout in Grand Black high-gloss finish. The limited edition features special features such as seats with silver Mulliner piping and embroidered Edition 12 script. The upper seating areas are quilted and the seams have a three-color gradient from Anthracite to Porpoise to Stratos. The quilted door panels also feature contrast stitching.
The air vent register slides have a unique design and are decorated on the top with the number "12" milled from solid material. As a further detail, the firing order of the W12 engine is engraved in the Grand Black veneer in the area of the passenger seat, complemented by the Speed Edition 12 emblem embedded in the veneer. And as a special extra, there is a 12-scale model of the Bentley W1 engine block :15 as a tribute to the engine legend. Scale W12 engine models cast from the aluminum of an original W12 will be offered as a souvenir.
