The new Ford GT Mk IV from Ford Performance and Multimatic represents the ultimate Ford GT - at the same time it is with its specially developed twin-turbo EcoBoost engine developing over 800 hp, its racing gearbox, the aerodynamic carbon fiber body, the longer wheelbase for better handling on the race track as well as Multimatic's Adaptive Spool Valve Suspension System (ASV) the most extreme version of this series ever made. The new Ford GT Mk IV sees itself as a reminiscence of the year 1967, when the then Ford GT40 achieved a spectacular victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which received worldwide attention. With this historical background, only 67 of the $1,7 million supercars will be hand-built at Multimatic's Canadian facility in Markham, Ontario.
GT & "Limited Edition" sold out
“The 40 GT1967 Mk IV made racing history at the time. The new Ford GT Mk IV is also focused on pure performance,” said Mark Rushbrook, Global Director, Ford Performance Motorsports. "With an even higher level of technology, a whopping increase in engine power and a completely new carbon fiber body, the Mk IV says goodbye to the ultimate super sports car".
“Our brief was to develop a very special version of the Ford GT. The Mk IV is the compelling result,” said Larry Holt, Executive Vice President, Multimatic Special Vehicle Operations Group. “A powerful engine, a thoroughbred racing gearbox, a longer wheelbase and a truly radical carbon fiber body have resulted in an unprecedented level of performance. We are proud to have been part of the third generation GT from the very beginning and consider this exceptional vehicle to be a significant chapter in Multimatic's history."
How the 1967 Ford GT Mk IV came about
Building on the triumphant 1-2-3 finish of the 40 Ford GT1966 Mk II at Le Mans, the Ford development team reworked this racing car at the time: Based on the latest material science findings at the time, Ford engineers and Kar Kraft jointly developed a new lightweight Bonded honeycomb aluminum construction chassis with an aerodynamic body shape. Combined with the legendary 427 Ford V8 engine with a displacement of seven liters and a special transmission with its own cooling system, which sent the engine power to the rear wheels, the 1967 Ford GT Mk IV was nine inches longer than its predecessor and showed its strengths successfully compete in international long-distance races.
