The model name Taurus is also known to many car fans in Germany and is immediately associated with the Ford brand. The last Ford with this model name rolled off the assembly line in the USA in 2018, but the large Ford sedan lives on in China, and was completely renovated for the 2020 model year. In general, it is astonishing that Taurus is not the only old Ford model name that will continue to be used in China, since there is also a brand-new Ford Escort to buy, which only shares the model name with the old model.
The design language is simple and elegant.
However, we now come to the new Ford Taurus Vignale, which is one of the largest limousines in the luxury class with a length of 5,02m, 1,88m width and 1,51m height, and with its dimensions almost reaches the luxury class. The car is on the same platform as the current Lincoln Continental, but is only available with front-wheel drive and not with all-wheel drive. In terms of design, the new Taurus Vignale is very much based on its smaller brother, the Mondeo, although its larger grill and tapered headlights make it look much more sublime than the somewhat rounded and chubby Mondeo. From the side, the difference can be seen even more clearly, since the Mondeo has a coupé-like hatchback, while the Taurus wears a classic step cut. The rear is characterized by narrow tail lights in the typical Ford style and the trunk lid also has a subtle tear-off edge at the rear. Unfortunately, Ford has also decided to use fake exhaust covers, which are currently difficult to fashion. However, these do not even look so out of place and integrate relatively well into the formal language of the rear, although at second glance they are immediately exposed as fake covers, because the real exhaust pipes are too visible.
Drive known from various European models.
The only engine currently available is the well-known 2-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline from the EcoBoost family, which has 245 hp and a powerful 390 Newton meters in the Ford Taurus Vignale. The power is transmitted to the front wheels as mentioned above and this is done with the help of an eight-speed automatic. The driving performance of the 1,8-ton limousine is completely sufficient, because it goes to 8 km / h in 100 seconds and the propulsion only ends at 228 kilometers per hour.
The decor is princely.
In the Ford Taurus Vignale there is almost everything a spoiled manager's heart desires. The car has an electrically adjustable single seat system in the rear, a Bang & Olufsen multimedia system with 14 loudspeakers, Internet access via Wi-Fi, a large panoramic glass roof and various other equipment features. Of course, all relevant safety features such as ESP, tire pressure control, 8 airbags and various driver assistance systems are on board.

The surprising success of the Ford Mustang in Europe is actually a sign that Ford also has the opportunity to offer models in higher price segments in Europe, because there are quite a few customers who would have been waiting for a legitimate successor to the blessed Ford Scorpio. In China, the model as a fully equipped Vignale costs just RMB 288.000, which would be the equivalent of around EUR 56.000 with taxes and import duties in Germany. That sounds like a lot of money for a Ford, but as you can see with Mustang and Edge, larger and more expensive Ford models can be sold well in Europe.
